As you know, the Tamper Proof function is activated and de-activated holding the Toggle/Source/Input button for about five seconds.
If your universal remote does not have this button (under any name), then try all buttons.
Try also disconnecting power cord for five minutes, this will reset most TV functions.
If still no luck, then you will need a different remote to get rid of the function.
Try all buttons on your remote. If the Tamper Proof had been activated using this remote with this codes, then it can be turned off using the same remote.
The tamper proof is a lock prevent meant to prevent the accidental change of the operation mode.
To enter in service mode you will still need the original remote or a programmed service remote.
Try contacting Sharp and see if they can override the tamper proof mode.

I tried the input button but it doesn't turn off the tamper proof. I also have a new remote but with the TVbeing locked it won't let me set it up with the codes.
