Good day,
As a general rule refrigerator ice makers don't really make ice cubes very fast.
Things that could increase the production are.
1. Set the freezer to a colder setting. That control is usually on a whirlpool is called an air control.
2. Setting the refrigerator control colder, while also help since setting it to a colder setting will actually make both compartments colder.
3. The ice maker produces ice when it's internal thermostat reaches approx. 14 degrees.
You have no control of that function.
4. If the cubes are on the small side, the water valve on the back bottom of the machine may need to be replaced.
5. Along that same line, the water supply line from the house and it's fittings could be starting to restrict, not supplying enough water pressure.
The line, unless plastic, and the valve would need either be removed and cleaned or replaced with new.

Whirlpool top freezer 18c.ft w/ icemaker: freezer works fine. fridge does not cool below 56 degrees. vacuumed dust from bottom, turned entire unit off and restarted but still not working, in back of

i think you have to check to make sure that
the fan inside the freezer is cycling on.
it will be concealed of course but you should
be able to hear it. i replaced one once with
the same symptoms and that fixed fridge
portion of a 2002 or 3 whirlpool. make sure
to listen closely and not mistake it for the
stronger fan motor which operates in
conjunction with and nearby the compressor.

How to install/replace Icemaker in top bottom fridge

Start by unplugging fridge. Take 1/4 inch nut drive ( sometimes phillips ) remove bottom screw from under ice maker. Next loosen top to screws mostly out. The screws are located in brackets near the ice tray behind the front cover. Ice maker has brakets that the top screws slide into. Lift the icemaker up and out off the screws. Next disconnect the quick connect that is on the back wall of the freezer. Some models are hard wired into the icebox. If this is like yours than disconnect the quick connect from the icemaker itself. Take icemaker out of freezer and connect quick connect into or from new ice maker. Slide the new icemaker onto screws and into place. Screw bottom screw in and than tighten the top two screws. Place ice maker arm down so it can make ice. Give it 24 hours to cycle before it starts producing ice. Most of the time icemaker starts making ice within a couple hours. Plug in fridge.

Water accumalating in the bottom of the fridge.

A common problem. All modern refrigerators have an automatic deicer. The heater kicks in, then MELTS the ice in build up in the freezer for a short period before freezing again. This water drains either in the fridge or out the back to the catch tray. Simply pull out the bottom drawers and clean the clogged drain hold where the water can drain and evaporate in the catch tray as it is designed to.

Smelly Ice and water leaking into top shelf

Does water in door dispenser taste bad? If not, Try arm and hammer fridge deoderizer. It will help to absorb fridge odors which may be clinging to water molecules in ice maker tray. Ice maker tray is open to freezer area.Water is very medium to infiltrate with odors. Try this first

Whirlpool side by side freezer not working fridge is fine

Pull out the fridge and unplug. Remove the back cover. Clean the condenser coils and fan. If they're difficult to get to, use compressed air to blow out. (you can get a can from walmart). That should fix the problem. If that doesn't work, then write back.

Freezer cold but not fridge

too much ice bulid up will stop enough cold air being blown into the fridge.Try turning it off letting all ice melt then turn it back on again and set thermostat at a lower temp. There may be ice you can't see.

Water dripping from freezer

a quick fix I found is to hang a peice of copper wire from the defroster bar in the freezer and let it hang into the drain tube when the defroster bar gets hot it heats the copper to prevent the freezing, but the thing you should do is check the resistance with an ohm meter across the defroster bar,if its ok its the defroster assembly located in the fridge
