    Hi Don,

Many thanks for your comments as I did not know this. However I am using genuine HP printer cartridges in my HP printer so I think my problem must be caused by something else.

    So HELP is still needed.

    Best regards
    Arlene

Please make sure that you have removed and alignhed the printheads.

Forgive me for asking this, but roughly speaking about 80 to 95% of problems involving ink or toner are resolved by the following:
Are you using a factory new ink cartridge supplied by the manufacturer of the printer?
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridge that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead.

Had the same problem with Epson WorkForce 545, seemed to print just signature lines on emails, but not the regular text. Called Epson service, they had me go through headcleanings (Setup-Maintenance-Head Cleaning) and afterwards do a "Nozzle Check". Once the Nozzle check printed 6 squares with all the lines, I then reprinted a regular page and voila, it actually printed my text. I loaded MS Office 2003 on a new laptop running Windows 7, only to find that Word opens as a blank page with no toolbars, rulers etc - only the writing area. Excell works ok

The Word 2003 Window When Word is first started, a new blank page titled Document1 is opened automatically. This is a fresh page where you can begin typing a new document.
  • At the top of the window is a row of menus, including File, Edit and View.
  • Below that row of menus is a row of buttons for various tools (collectively called the "toolbars") to use in creating and editing your document.
Layouts in Word 2003
Normal - Normal is the default Word 2003 view. It shows just the text that you are working on, without margins or header and footer information. It doesn't differentiate between different pages of text.
Web Layout - The Web Layout displays the document as if it were a web page
Print Layout - The Print Layout shows the entire page you are working on, including margins, header and footer information. It shows the layout of the text on the page the way it would be displayed if printed.

My Canon 5050N is printing blank pages. After printing, the green printing light continues to flash indefinitely.

Hi,
Goto your printer control software from canon. There you should find some options to print a test page. Try printing the test page and if it is printed without any problem, then you are making some mistake while printing within an application like MSword, etc.
SOLUTION: Reinstall your printer driver again so that the default settings will be restored rather than checking the plave where you went wrong.

If test page itself printed blank, then there is some problem with your printer hardware.
solution: Replace your cartridges and try again.

If still your problem persists, then its time to give your printer a service from an authorized canon cervice center.
I hope this is helpful to you

The printer is issuing blank sheets - every other sheet being dispensed by printer is blank - i.e. without printed data

This could happen if the text you are sending to the printer spills over slightly onto a new page. To test for this, press Ctrl-P and select "Current Page." This will insure that only one page is being sent.

How do i make double sided copies for my HP 2840

When you call up your printer (usually [Ctl][P]) tell it to print even numbered pages only, but in reverse order, This means the last page to be printed will be page 2, and it will be face down on the top of the pile (blank side showing) Take the printed sheets and rotate them so the top (head) of the sheet is feeding back into the machine, with the blank sides up. Now call your print up again and tell it to print the odd pages only. The first sheet to be printed will be page 1 which will print on the blank side of page 2, and all the rest will follow in sequence, with the correct sides up. Works every time. The print control is part of the Windows system, so your application should provide the full functionality.
