SOURCE: How to format the LaCie 500GB d2 Quadra for Windows XP??

This way it should work...
Connect your drive to the computer...
Go to: Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer management.
A new window will appear...
Select Storage > Disk management on the left of the window.
Now you will see the different drives that are connected or part of your system.
One of the drives listed there is your LaCie, i think you'll recognize it by name...
Right-click on it, and select 'format'
In the new window, select the new volume label (as you like it), the file system (use NTFS), and set allocation unit size to default.
Make sure 'Perform a quick format' is not checked...

Then click OK. Your drive will be formatted now... Don't interrupt the process

SOURCE: Will reinstalling Netowrk Drive (E.B.Disk) delete everything on

Wait.. If you have this hard drive it should be connected using network adapter right? you make it sound like it is connected through USB. Reinstalling the driver on your pc is not a bad idea and it will remove the hard drive files. I suggest go to another pc and search from there. Also, find out the network ip address of that hard drive. If it is plugged in to the network switch then it would be easy for you to access the files even without installing the drivers.
accessing the drives and shared folder:
start-> run and type in \\harddriveIP\sharedfolder

if you don't know the ip use the software lookatlan to search for it.

4big Quadra drive not appearing in disk utility or LaCie desktop manager

Could be defective. Try swapping power cord and usb cable with know good ones. You could also plug it into a different (known working) usb port.

Good Luck

I have a 1TB LaCie 2Big Quadra. It has 2 500GB and runs on RAID 1. I replaced both 500 GB LaCie drives with 1.5 TB LaCie drives, but my computer only recognizes the original 500 GB. I formatted both...

I have the same problem too on my 2big form lacie . If I use 2x 1,5 tera disk in "fast mode" or in "big mode" my disk manager only shows 746 gigs available (it should be at least 2,5 terra).
If I use "safe mode" so my system can see 1,3 tera available, wich is normal for a raid mirror configuration.
I hope to find a solution quickly.

Lacie won't register that it's empty

Click Start
Right-mouse click My Computer
Click Manage
Double-click Storage
Double-click Disk Management (Local)
Right-mouse click on the 60GB partition
Choose Delete Partition
Click on the 300GB of "unallocated" space.
Create a partition that "spans" the 300 GB.
Format the new partition.

Acronis partitioned LaCie d2 Quadra 1TB. Tried to eliminate the partition and ended up with 100% unallocated space. How can I repair this problem? Thanks, Tom

Go to Start > Control Panel >Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Storage > Disk Management
Choose your LaCie drive. Right click on it, and choose mark the partition as active.

This should give you one partition of 1TB in size.

I have the same issue

Win XP will not be able to recognize whole 3TB storage drive. You need to use some kind of 3rd party utility and then partition it and format as well.. AS a note win xp size is limited up to 80-100 GB.
