Hi Mohn,

Don't know your geographic location, but where I am we've been in the single digit temperatures for three days. Everything that can freeze has frozen.

If you are in a similar area, even though the water in the spa (I'm assuming the spa pump is being used on a spa) is heated, the pump housing isn't. If it iced up, it could very well cause the problems you describe.

Comment back with some more detail before I continue down what might be the wrong path.

Best regards
Mike

Hello! My Spa Guts controller reads FLO and then pops the breaker. Filter is clean and Pump / motor have been replaced. What do you think I need ? Thank you!

FLO stands for flow switch open. If the pump is running and you have water flow it may be that the flow switch is not working properly. If your pump is not pumping water then you may have an air lock in the system.

My new flo-master xp2 spa pump will not engage the low speed. The hi speed (jets) works fine but the low speed doesn't engage. I just hear a clicking and nothing comes on.

if you had ice in it and it was powererd up.. you may have burned out the start capacitor or even the start windings..why was it iced up while working on it..it should have been freewheeled by hand before startup..I just got a tub in here.. had to wait 6 days for it to thaw out..(sign of good insulation) we just ran it for the first time yesterday..got some seals to replace and some switches to repair..

My spa hums for a few seconds then kicks off. No flow. lights and control display are working.

Is the shut off occuring @ the GFI? & is there an error code displayed on your topside?

If the breaker is kicking off, the best way to troubleshoot is to disconnect all components, (pumps, heater, circ, etc.) & then plug one in & turn the breaker on. repeat the process until you locate which component is tripping the breaker.. then you know whats causing the trouble

I have a flo master xp2 / 48 frame / 230V / 2.5 hp / 2 speed spa pump. I accidentally hooked switched the high and common lines when wiring the electricity. The low line was done correctly, because they...

You shorted the 230 lines at the motor terminal board. If you are certain you have reset any and all breakers feeding the spa and that the 230V is getting back to the pump motor then you blew the winding leads as you shorted the motor. While it is possible a motor shop could repair the leads it is far more likely the damage caused will cause the price to be that or more of a replacement motor.

The motor may have blown the start capacitor. It is the black cylinder about 1-1/2" dia x 2-1/2" long. Look at the end with the wires for a small hole. Is it blackened or have a hole blown thru? If so replace it. Otherwise have a local electric motor repair shop look at it for possible repair or replacement.

My 1 hp 115 volt pool pump sometimes flips the breaker when powering up after resetting the breaker it runs fine. any ideas?

You may have a leak that is shorting out the circuit. Make sure there is no water in the vicinity of the motor (other than in the pipes obviously). If there isn't any water on the motor, check to see what else is on the same circuit. This can be done with a lamp. When it pops the circuit next time, check other outlets to see what else has lost power. It could be the wife inside making a margarita for you. :-)

SEal replacement on Flo-Master 1 hp 2 speed pump? Tough to remove. Any tips on removal?

Pump seal is in two pieces. The piece with the spring should be easy to remove. To remove the piece that is inside the motor side of the pump housing, place the housing with the side that should be facing the motor downdwards on a flat surface. The hole in the housing is larger than the seal, so use a screwdriver and, placing first on one side of the seal and then the other, strive the handle of the screwdriver sharply and the seal should pop out the bottom. The seal is rubber, with a ceramic insert, so if you don't tap the screwdriver too sharply the insert won't be damaged. In any case, it's a good idea to replace the entire seal if you have had to open the pump and remove the impeller

Circuit breaker on my air compresor pops

does the breaker pop with an empty tank?
if so then you need to see if the unit turns free, try running the m/c disconnected from the pump unit,my guess is that your drive motor bearings or internal windings are at fault
hope this helps regards ian
