This dishwasher has worked fine for years. Suddenly, no power at all to front controls, won't start. There is power at the plug. Any ideas?

Kenmore and other Whirlpool manufactured dishwashers have a thermal fuse located inside the operator console. If the fuse blows it will exhibit the symptoms you describe. It cannot be reset and must be replaced. If you post back with your model number I can confirm how your dishwasher is configured and maybe provide you with a part number.

Your dishwasher does have the thermal fuse on the control board. The part number for the replacement kit is 8193762. I found it listed for the best price at appliancepartspros.com. You can also view an illustration of it there.

There were some noted problems with certain model dishwashers where the wire gauge on the thermal fuse was too small and would heat up causing the thermal fuse to blow prematurely. There is a replacement kit available that includes a wire harness with a larger gauge wire that you simply splice in place. It handles current better and prevents the fuse from blowing prematurely. To ease your mind, there were no reports of fire hazard.

If you type in your model number you can utilize the exploded view parts diagrams at appliancepartspros.com or searspartdirect.com to assist you in locating the part. The fuse is listed as item 6 under the "Control Panel Parts" section.

To replace the fuse, follow these steps:

    1. Make sure the dishwasher is unplugged or the breaker is turned off.

    2. Open the door and remove only the top screws directly behind the control panel.

    3. Remove the protective cover from back of the control panel to expose the main control board.

The thermal fuse should be mounted to the control board. If you remove it and take a resistance check, it should read close to 0 ohms, if good. If bad, replace as necessary.

If you have any questions about this repair, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

My sister year old GE dishwasher won’t start. Ha don’t a power outage and after power came on she tried to start it and wouldn’t work.

If it was running when the power outage happened, that may have "fried" the control panel.
She needs to have it checked by an appliance repair person to see if that is so.
God bless your efforts.

13 yr old dishwasher suddenly stopped working mid pre wash. Water left in bottom of machine. Power point is fine. Will not start at all now though. No lights turn on either. Is it fixable ?

If it is 13 years old, it has most likely reached its end of life--whatever the cause, something has malfunctioned. However, a service technician would probably be able to advise.

How do I unstop my dishwasher?

Turn the breaker off for five minutes and the turn back on. Start the dishwasher and see if it will drain. Sometimes power bumps can mess with the control board. Otherwise it could be the control board or the pump.

Dishwasher LED not lighting and dishes not cleaned

If it's making a sound, that means you have power. You may need a control board or a console or both. Check the ribbon cable between the console and the control board for any loose connections. If everything is fine, replace the parts.

No lights - Acts Like It Has No Power At All

see the diagram and pictorial and proceed with common sense:
1) test the fuse for open or band contact with VOM,see the diagram attached how to do it
2)check the switch door hook or door release button, when they are broken they do not touch the switch, and will NOT start. test for open
see the diagram

My Hotpoint HDA3600R00CC suddenly won't start. Checked the breaker and it's fine

My not starting do you imply all the lights are out or the lights are on but nothing happens when the START is pressed.

Generally the door interlock switch could be a problem if it does not start. If lights are out then the controller is out or the power supply.

Check the parts assembly for idea of parts involved.

Good luck.

Dishwasher stopped working..!!..!! please help

Hi crystal245,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your problem is: GE Nautilus Dishwasher suddenly stopped working. NOTHING!! it was fine one day then went kaput the next. I checked the plug in and the circuit breaker but still NOTHING

I run into this often. Ends up being loose, broken or burnt ellectrical connection in d/w junction box most of the time. It's under the d/w behind the kick plate on the right or center. Turn the power off first and remove the wire nuts. Replace wire nuts and/or repair wire ends as nessessary. Beyond that you're looking at a bad control board or failed connection in the unit.

Feel free contact me again!
