  1. Press "return" key to left margin.
  2. Press "margin release" key once.
  3. Backspace to where you want the left margin
  4. Press "Margin left" key.
For right margin, space bar to where it is, press margin release, space bar to where you want it, press "margin right" key.

How can I change the margins? for Brother SX-4000

Move carrier with the backspace or the spacebar.
Press and HOLD [ALT] while pressing the [4/$] key.
The left margin is now set.

Move carrier with the backspace or the spacebar.
Press and HOLD [ALT] while pressing the [5/%] key.
The right margin is now set.

Reset margins

Above the number keys are words in green or blue the margin release, L. mar. and R. mar. are there return to the L. margin, press the alt key with the mar. rel. release them, backspace to the location for the L. mzr press alt and L. margin key, R. margin works the same way.

SETTTING MARGINS

Use the margin release or mr key to be able to get past the current margins. Position the carrier to where you want the margin then press left or right margin set. Lawrence

Margin release on SX-4000 Typewritter

Actually this is incorrect. Move to the Left [Backspace] or Right [Spacebar] depending on which margin you wish to change until it beeps. You hold down [ALT] and press [3] M REL, then move left or right again until you get where you want, then Hold [ALT] and press either [4] L MAR or [5] R MAR.
