I have a GE XL44 and the stove top burners will not light automaticly. I have to put a external flame to the gas when turned on. It looks like there is some sort of ceramic heat module that the burner sits on that should maintain enough heat to generate the gas to ignite when knob is turned. How does the pilot stay lit if not through this ceramic knob?
I have a GE Gas Stove XL44 the stove top buners don't light by themselves without manual lighting. When I turn on the buner knob the buner doesn't click. Also I used my self- cleaning oven for the first time and stopped it before the time was up after that is when the stove top buners wouldn't light by theirselves.

I have GE XL44
after long absence - top burners would not light without match to burner. Can't light the pilot. ND
The GE XL 44 series does not use "pilot lights/flames" for ignition on any of its burners. You can't light what is not there..
Do year hear "snap, snap, snap" when you slowly turn the knob to the red "light" section of the dial?
the "burner on" light stays on even when stove top is turned off
Light stays on after turning off burner
