Maytag washer bangs during spin cycle

Maytag washer model number mav6057AWW Serial Number: 10542522WY

My Maytag would spin on the rinse cycle but not on the rinse cycle. I turned the inside tub until it would turn anymore and that seemed to work for a while. Then, the tub banged violently against the side. I took the back panel off just to take a look around. I moved the exterior tub around to see if one of the springs were off or loose. Then I just plugged it back in to test it. Lo and behold, it worked. The tub span well with no banging at all. I pretty happy about that, but I suspect it's just a temporary fix.

What do your think is the problem?

My Front loader Neptune went into an imbalance alert and would not spin out the clothes even though the was not a big load and it had already gone through several loads. I took the clothes out of the tub and tried the spin cycle and the same alert came up. I waited a couple of hours with the machine off and tried the spin cycle again and this time it worked with out throwing out an imbalance alert. I suspect that the imbalance sensor is not working correctly.

My machine (Kenmore 800) does the same damn thing and its bran new. Seems the tub is too easy to rock and the spin is not symmetrical.

My maytag washer wont spin the water out during it's final spin on the heavy cycle, but if I move the button to another cycle like delicate or medium it will spin out the water during that final spin. there is no hose blockage, the water does pump out during another setting just not on the long heavy cycle. Model lat8714ae........ao17894ko...any ideas anyone????

Chances are you had a blockage in the pump and it tried to spin with the water still in the drum. check the bottom hose and filter for blockages so it does not occur again.

I have an issue that is rather strange! On the NORMAL cycle only, at the end when it should turn off, a rinse comes on and wets the clothes. The extra rinse is NOT on, the belt and motor are fine. I know...

Always supply a model number, each model has it's own foibles. It is very hard to assist without full details.
BUT, is this an "LAT" series Maytag washer??
If so, this is a normal rinse, the manufacturer calls it a "Spray Rinse" and it is quite normal.it only adds the water during the spin cycle, after the rinse water is ejected and then only for about 1 minute, the water passing through the fabric as it passes by the water inlet flume and empties during the spin.

The wash time continues to increase on every cycle. I have a Maytag Neptune TL Washer.

Thank you my machine model number. The reason I ask is so many folks post non FAV6800A/FAV9800A issues in this forum. This forum doesn’t ask for machine model number and serial number. Here we go.

Does your machine seem to take longer than normal to fill with water?

Does the machine increase the time during the Spin Cycle of the Wash Cycle?

Are there any error codes to the LED display such as dC or uC?

Do you want to work toward a DIY fix? If not maybe we can get a solid feel for the issue that will help you in the decision process to bring in a repair company or replace.

So I can better understand the issue can you start a Quick Wash cycle with Soil and Spin settings set to lowest setting and if you could place a couple of bath towels in the wash basket for a load.

I want to see if the machine will go thru the Wash, Rinse and Spin cycle within the 27 to 29 min time of a Quick Wash cycle. I want to see if the machine is increasing Washer Cycle time in the Spin Cycle of the Wash Cycle.

You should enter the Rinse Cycle at the 20 min mark on the LED display.

You should enter the Spin Cycle at the 10 min mark on the LED display.

Watch the cycle and see if you have similar times as I do. Let me know if the washer has any off balance issues as it enters into the Spin Cycle…..Rich

Loud noise during washing/rinsing cycles

I just replaced the bearings on my Front loader Maytag MAH5500B, as it sounded like a freight train during the spin cycle. The bearing replacement fixed the train problem.

NEW PROBLEM NOW: It's been about a month now since the bearing job and now something is clicking/binding when you spin the back belt wheel. I have taken the belt off and carefully move the wheel and I still get this clicking noise. It sounds as if someone is hitting the plastic drum that the tub is surrounded by. I really doubt it's the bearings this soon, as the sound is not the same! No leaks or metal shavings to speak of or rubbing of the belt wheel.

Seems like it's more noticeable during the wash/rinse cycles then the spin.

Can anyone help.???
