Question about Panasonic RR-US395 Digital Voice Recorder
After at least seven attempts at firstly: installing the CD's #1 and #2 which installed without error and Secondly: installing the update which gives me the error " the program was not installed correctly" after the update download was "installed", I have given up.
I have contacted Panasonic staff for help previously with no results. I thought I would try once more because I would really like to use the voice to text function more than anything.
If the problem cannot be found and fixed, can you suggest another program to do the same thing, preferably via direct connection in real time?

According to panasonic, "If Voice Editing Ver1.0 is already installed, sometimes proper updates cannot be made due to the settings.Uninstall the program from the control panel program add / remove." The way I take this response, the underlying software has not been completely rewritten since the DOS days (before Windows) and there is not enough resources to write the software properly. (Nuf sed?)
Follow the recommendation and completely uninstall the software. In anticipation of further problems, I also recommend looking for any setting files left behind during the uninstall. These will likely be "*.ini" files and will likely have the same date as the date you last used or made changes within the software. Try checking the folder within "Program Files" related to the software and also in the "Windows" folder.

Uninstall the software.
Reinstall the software
After installing the software update from Panasonic, plug your recorder into the computer. Go into 'Control Panel' and select 'Hardware and Sound'. Then Select 'Device Manager' and select 'Universal Serial Bus controllers'. You should have a device for 'Panasonic IC Recorder', it might be flagged yellow, right click on it and select 'uninstall'. Unplug your recorder from the computer, replug your recorder into the computer, the Device Manager screen will refresh and you should have 'Panasonic IC Recorder' back in the list. Try the Voice software, you should have in the drive list 'IC recorder'. Transfer your files.
It worked for me,
