Hi there you will need to replace the development motor but first try the following.

Entering the Service Mode
There are two ways to enter the service mode.
Method 1: Turn the machine on while pressing the “On Line” key and “Escape” key
together until the above message in the illustration appears on the display.
NOTE: If you switch the machine off, any jobs stored on the hard disk using the
sample print and protected print features will be deleted.
Check first with the user tools to see if there are any jobs stored with these
features
(Menu key - Sample Print, or Protected Print).
Method 2: Press the “Up/Down arrow” keys together for about 5 seconds, then
press the “Enter” key.
The above message shown in the illustration appears on the display.
NOTE: The machine automatically goes off line when you enter the service mode.

Using the up down arrows select Engine and enter by pressing enter or # key.

Using the up down arrows select mode 5 then enter using enter or # key then select 810 (SC reset) press enter then if you want to select 809 (SC Detection ON/OFF) Enter and select 1 to disable. Escape or return key all the way out and exit. Turn the machine off then on again and test if the same problem then replace the Dev unit if still having the problem then replacement of the motor likely. I can email you the complete service manual if you like.

Thanks J

Hi there I have a brother HL-2170 W and have a page in the machine that is jammed. I actually turned the power off in the middle of a print job. What do I do? when I turn the power on the error light...

You should be able to solve your issue by following the first 7 steps below for clearing paper jams. After that put your printer back together and see if it starts working. If not, follow the rest of the steps and you should be fine.
  1. Open the front of the printer.
  2. Slowly take out the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly. Some of the jammed paper will be pulled out with the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly.
  3. Set the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly on a piece of disposable paper or cloth in case you accidentally spill or scatter toner.
  4. To prevent damage to the printer caused by static electricity, DO NOT touch the electrodes inside the printer.
  5. Close the front cover.

Note: Do not put the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly back in at this point.

  6. Pull the paper tray completely out of the printer.
  7. Pull the jammed paper down and out of the printer.
  8. Open the back cover (back output tray).
  9. Still looking at the back of the printer, pull the tab toward you to open the fuser cover.
  10. Pull the jammed paper out of the fuser unit.

    HOT SURFACE
After you have just used the printer, some internal parts of the printer will be extremely hot. Wait for the printer to cool down before you touch the internal parts of the printer.

  11. Close the back cover (back output tray).
  12. On the drum unit you set aside, push down the green lock lever and take the toner cartridge out of the drum unit. Clear the jammed paper if there is any inside the drum unit.

    CAUTION
Handle the toner cartridge carefully. If toner scatters on your hands or clothes, wipe or wash it off with cold water at once.

To avoid print quality problems, DO NOT touch the roller part of the toner. Try to keep you hands, fingers and everything else away from there.

  13. Put the toner cartridge back into the drum unit until you hear it lock into place. If you put the cartridge in properly, the green lock lever will lift automatically.
  14. Open the front cover. Put the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly back in the printer.
  15. Put the paper tray firmly back in the printer.
  16. Close the front cover.
  17. Make sure that the Error LED is now off.

380 Paper Jam Error just before blue toner is laid down

It sounds like the problem is with cyan drum, drum cover broken?, The fix I'd follow without looking is replace cyan drum (or possible remove drum cover completely if broken) but it could also less likely be the Transport Unit aka "shinny" it just clicks out too for inspection

Keep fingers off drum's and trans unit surface.

Service manual is japanesse english limited stuff, trust me they are not much help, try the user manual it at least has the names of stuff. User manual is on disc that comes with printer or via download from oki's web support page.
