Question about Acer Aspire 5100 Notebook

1 Answer

Cannot get a wireless connection anymore

My wireless connection used to work, but lately it started to randomly turn off and on again, and now it doesn't work at all anymore. I updated the driver, as the window diagnosis was that the athernet wirless adapter has driver problems. Still I cannot connect wireless.
The device manager says athernet is working okay. Could it be a compatability problem with Windows Vista?

My wifi turn itself off

Its been said that if you hibernate your PC too long,

when you resume windows your wireless is 'confused'.

Try restarting or hibernating again and resuming immediately after.

Sometimes this works for me, sometimes it doesn't.

Also, if your bluetooth isnt working either, you could have a problem with your wireless.

Check for updates and update BIOS and anything related to your computers wireless assistant, connectivity, etc.

re-install the wlan card driver, just download it again dont bother uninstalling

hope this helps

Keyboard loses connection to computer

Is it a usb, ps2 or wireless keyboard? your keyboard doesn't require a driver since it is a plug and play device.

If you're using a usb or wireless keyboard, then might as well update the chipset driver of your computer. If updating the chipset driver fails, they try your computer on a difference computer to see if there's a problem with your keyboard already. If another keyboard works fine with your computer then it means to say that the computer is working fine.

If you're using a wireless keyboard, changing the battery helps.

Can not connect

It is possible that your windows update messed up the Linksys drivers. If your pc is xp, download the latest drivers from www.linksys.com/download. uninstall the wpc54g on the add/remove programs.

if using XP, reinstall drivers only, no need to install the linksys software. This would be best if you install the drivers manually. After this you will be using only the WINDOWS UTILITY for your wireless connection.
