We'll see. But it makes sense in this situation. I am woking on heating the area described. Thanks. Who would have thought a furnace would freeze! Isn't that what the furnace is supposed to prevent!

Hi,
Without knowing exactly what brand and model number your furnace is I will take a shot at this.. If you have a condensing furnace which I think you probably have, and the temperatures got below freezing where the furnace was then you have condensate frozen inside the furnace.
This frozen condensate will keep the inducer fan pressure switch from making and allowing the furnace to start. Had this problem just last year at a camp in a building that they did not always use and turned the furnace off.
To get it working the easiest thing to do is set a little electric heater in the return plenum under the furnace and let the heat slowly thaw the small passage ways that are frozen in the furnace.
It may take at least a few hours till you can get everything thawed enough to turn it on.

The other simple explanation is that the pressure switch is simply so cold that the diaphram is too stiff to work... a heat gun or hair dryer on that will help that out. The pressure switch in usually 2-3 inches around and silver in color with a small hose or two attached to it.

I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!

Thanks for using Fixya!!

LIght on box inside flashes 4 times on a new propane fill up

If the gas was empty for three days, the furnace may have attempted to start numerous times causing virtually ALL residual gas in the incoming line to be drawn out. You may consider purging the gas line at the clean out cap where the gas line enters the furnace. However, it should have restarted and stayed running after just a few times at the most because as long as the line was NOT disconnected from the main tank, there should be NO air inside the line to cause flame failure.

I'd suggest asking the service company to double check the furnace manifold pressure to ensure there is not a regulator related problem.

Three times this winter (on the coldest days no less) a tiny droplet of water froze internally of the regulator right on the orifice blocking gas flow.

The heater was working but just quit in the middle of the night. We woke u freezing. It will not restart. Do you know what we need to do?

Check your propane tank to ensure you have propane in the tank, next make sure the regulator did not lock up. Also make sure you have plenty of 12v power as the furnace runs on 12v power only.

Arcoaire furnace ran out of propane and now wont ignite

Check along the gas supply line to the furnace and make sure there isn't a valve that is shut off. If you have a gas oven see if the ranges light and have gas. I'm assuming you've also turned on the gas supply at the furnace itself as well. Check that the furnace has electricity it won't be able to open the automatic valve let alone fire the igniter. My brand new furnace had a safety switch that went out 3 days after installation preventing it from lighting. You might contact Arcoaire about that. http://www.arcoaire.com/

Coleman furnace runs a lot

You did not indicate the year or size of the mobile home, but, having lived in several in cold Michigan, here are some things.
Be sure all the windows are well sealed.
At first, I used to put a strong clear plastic sheet over the insides, and tape these in place.
Later, I bought foam insulation board at a lumber yard and cut pieces to fin the window openings, and taped them in.
When it is really cold, feel the walls, the floor, and the ceiling.
If you find cold to the touch, you are losing heat there.
If your floors are cold, put insulating panels and skirting around the bottom of the trailer.
If your extreme cold lasts for months, some people consider putting a small electric heater under the trailer that is temperature controlled.
Some people do a "roof-over" by setting poles or posts alongside the trailer and adding an additional roof above the trailer.
That step would enable you to add insulation above the top if your ceiling is cold.
God bless your efforts.

When temp is below freezing furnace will not ignite. Fan will turn on but there's no combustion. eventually it kicks on but shuts down after a few min. We only have this problem in the really cold temps.

Check the condensate drain lines in the furnace. disconnect the power and remove the cover. Remove the black drain lines and flush and clean with a water and clorox solution. Then check the rest of your condensate drain line for blockage. the blockage is freezing and causing the furnace to shut down for a pressure problem.

My propane furnace is shooting a 6" orange flme and is fluctuatin

Its more likely than not, if its propane its air in the lines, gaS VALVES DO NOT GO BAD VERY OFTEN, so make sure you have plenty of propane, then purge it then light it, should be fine then i would think

Can't get thermostat to work

do you have an a/c. you need to go to the furnace and find ware the t-stat connection is the connections will be R= power, w = Heat, G = fan, Y = cool, C or X = common, you will connect the same wires that connect to the furnace to the connections R G Y W C on your tstat. for the 2 black and 2 red i would turn off the power to the furnace twist one black and one red together then take a continuity test between the reds and blacks that will tell you witch ic witch.
