It may be the oil in the popcorn---do you own one of the covers that go inside to cover so food does not splatter?

Sounds like a bulb for the backlight or your power is arcing. In a dark setting, look at the back of the TV and see if the arcing is visisble.

This is caused by either carbon arcing from carbonated food deposits or metal dish or bowl being used inside the machine causing a track. Even a recycled paper towel can cause it as the towels have metal traces in them.

There is a high tension arcing takes place inside your tv. It may be related to Line Output Transformer [LOT], and neighbouring parts. You can locate this by placing the tv in an absolute dark room, switch it on, and notice its inside through the back ventillations. you may see bluish arcing takes place, and an ozone smell will come too. Never switch on the tv till this fult is retified. Some other parts alo may get damaged.
Contact a sevice personal and get it repaired as soon as possible.

Several possibles: Plug wires arcing (run engine in a very dark area and open hood to see is there is arcing) Bad coil (same test look for arcing sometimes you can hear spark jumping) Distributor cap arcing inside or outside ( remove cap and inspect for carbon tracks inside cap). Module inside distributor bad (not too expensive to replace). Lean toward wires or coil.

the arcing sound is some kind of high voltage leak, which will shut down the tv. pull the speaker grill off and the access board, look at the 3 picture tubes, turn the set on you will see where the leak is, it's usually the high voltage splitter, which has a high voltage wire going into it and 3 high voltage wires coming out going to the picture tubes, if it arcs from the splitter you need to change it, if it arcs from one of the picture tube wires you need to pull the tube out and fix the high voltage leak, and possibly a cooling fluid leak caused it, not an easy reapir, you probably need a repairman.

this is the the fly back transformer ,replace it or if you are not a repair man ,please contact the nearest repair shop.(risk of shock hazard -high voltage!!!).

The center circuit board is the green CRT drive circuit. that board could be bad or the green CRT could be faulty. I have access to both those parts for your model

Most times arcing like this is from the Horiz. output transformer (flyback). The insulation has a break down and up to 30 KV will find the nearest path to ground. This would require a tech. to repair the unit. This repair will most likely cost around 250.00.
