After listening to the first song, i flipped to the next and it froze!

Unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and replug it back after 20 minutes or so. Check it after.

I re-updated the firm through the internet and its performing like new, i no longer have problems with music player freezing

I hope you backed up all your song files to disc. The 2488 has a built in hard drive just like any computer. If it has actually froze up, you will loose all song files when the technician repairs your hard drive.
I hope you tried pressing the "no/exit" key before simply unplugging the unit. I've seen and heard alot of people who have lost patience and just unplug the 2488 from the power source.

do you see the circle in the center you just swing it left to right or right to left

Try doing this: Toggle the hold switch and put it back in the off position. Then press and hold the center button and the menu button simultaneously for ten seconds and the apple symbol should come up on the screen. Then it should work like normal. Hope this helps!

gpx mw3837 finally got the music on it but only lets me fast forward through a song not skip to the next. What if i want to listen to one of the songs added to the player at the end of the list. I would have to hold down the fast forward button forever. Any one with a solution?

that will happen to my if my battery is low, did you try changing the batteries?
