I was watching TV one day and it shut off. I turned it back on and it worked fine for the day. The next day it turn itself off and won't come back on. It acts like it will then the green light on the power switch starts blinking a 1 blink-5 blink pattern

Have you determined if there is an low activity screen saving feature? It may be similar to my Sony which will turn off the screen after a specific time (approx 1hr) if you don't press a control key. It assumes there is nobody watching so it saves power.
If you hear a grinding,whirling,spining or buzzing sound, that sounds to me like the COLOR WHEEL,the reason for that is because your color wheel spins at 5,000 rpms(revolution per minute) and something that modifies the balance of the disc can cause different things,Unfortionatelly the only way to check that the color wheel is working properlyis you need to check it out physically

My girlfriend had the same issue with her 1300a. We saw on another forum that they took off the extra AV panel and infared receiver, so we opened it up. We couldn't really find either, but when we tightened all the plugs up things seem to be working fine again. Back to watching the Lifetime channel :(
I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.
Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV
up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors.
Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although
were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of
preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected
due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.
