Question about Sony Ericsson W850i Cellular Phone
Ive got a w850i and the other day it got very wet(bloody weather) now it wont recognise the memory stick is there.i know the memory stick is ok because ive put it into a psp and that recognises it.when i turn the phone off and on again i get a message that says 'warning all content on the memory will be lost.format anyway'if i click yes to format it just fails.....any help would be much appreciated.
I had the same problem, I realised I must have got it wet from the above comments.
I basically took the card out and blew very hard into the socket in an attempt to dry it. I put the card in and it worked fine!
I hope this has helped, sorry if it doesn't.

Send all your documents to your pc, then format the memory card and put all your documents back to your memory card.tnx

SOURCE: w850i memory stick
I dropped my sony in water once and the screen stopped working completely , I had to replace the lcd screen myself in the phone, (which isnt that difficult with a sony ericsson , it damaged the lcd screen but not the rest of the mobile...so this sounds like your software has been corrupted or the memory slot contacts have developed a fault from the damp
Try the master reset function (remember this erases any security pin numbers you might have put into the mobile) and see if the problem persists. If your brave enough ? like me ! you could strip the phone down and blow it dry with a hairdryer (set on low temperature), look for gunk on the memory card contacts and clean these off with computer solvent cleaner and a cotton bud. Then update the firmware and the software from sony ericsson's website. But I have a feeling , that the water got inside and this has coated one or more of the contacts for the memory card with the same thing , that you get inside a kettle, literally scale has formed on one of memory card contacts.
