My ~ 3 year old GE 23' side by side keeps shutting

My ~ 3 year old GE 23' side by side (model PSC23SGRDSS) keeps shutting down.
It restarts whenever the door is open for a few seconds.
It also shuts down instantly whenever the water / ice dispenser is pressed.
The digital display keeps fading in & out.
Seems like a power supply issue or a lousy controller PC board. I can fix anything if I gan get the parts.

Any voltages I can check with my meter?
Thanks
Carmen

I have a 3 yr old ge Profile side by side refridgerator model #psc23sgrdss with the following problem. on 3 occasions in the last 3 wks I've found the temp. in the refrig section very high ( 56 degrees and...

I had same issue this past week. Refrigerator up to 45 freezer up to 15. Ice would melt and then everything would get cold again. Ice formed on everything. Next thing you know it was warming up again. I knew the rubber seal on door flap that opens to let ice out warped during summer months because I keep it 78 in summer. Had that replaced today. Temperatures have gone back to normal and stayed ALL DAY (knock on wood). Check door flap seal sticking your hand up making sure you don't push in the water tab. You should be able to feel if it is warped/wavy like an old LP or not. Good Luck.

GE model GSS22SGRBSS freeser fan slows down

Same problem and think this unit is a piece of JUNK. In 5 years of service i have had to replace the Water shut off Valve twice, and the heater located on the bottom of the freezer which helps to keep the freezer defrosted. The fan has a whistling sound constantly, within 2 days of putting something in the freezer it is full of ice. Sorry pal, but as I said this model is a piece of junk.

Old refrigerator is not cold enough

I will need the model number of your refrigerator to help you better. Most older refrigerator have a defrost timer. But not knowing what yours is I won't be able to answer with a good answer. May things that cause the refrigerator to not cool properly are possible. So let me know what you find, Thanks, Sea Breeze

GE Side by Side Ref

Sounds like an internal mounting spring for the compressor. Only solution is replacing the compressor. However the compressor can run in this condition for years. Replacement compressors only have a one year warranty. A new refrigerator comes with a five year warranty.

GE PSC23SGRDSS Icemaker not working

Take the ice maker out and pull the square cover off of it. If you have the type with a plastic "gear" (about the size of a half dollar) on it check to see if the tabs that hold it in place are not broken (it's common). The gear can get cocked or even fall off and that will cause the IM to stop working. If it's the type with a circuit board in it check it for loose connectors, etc. Both types have a thermostat in them to sense the temp of the freezer (must be about 15-17F for IM to work). It's rare that the t-stats go out but it can happen. The "motor module" is a high failure item (about $60 bucks and easy to replace). Let us know what you find.
