I'm not sure of your microwave model, but try this:

Press CLEAR
Press CLOCK
(if the display scrolls instructions, follow them...otherwise continue )
Enter the hour and minutes
Press CLOCK again.
If the display shows current time...you're done..
If not, try Clear, Clock, and START.
One of these should get your clock set.

After each use, microwave clock disappears and microwave will not work until clock is reset. The clock will not allow itself to be reset unless we reset the circuit break which was not tripped.
Sounds to me like a fault with the main circuit board. Lets say the microprocessor on the board is bad and it locks up or just doesnt display the clock or time. When you reset the breaker you are resetting the main board. and it works until the processor fails again. Sound like may need new main PC board. Timer board. Caution!! Pricey??? Check cost of board before persuing, may be more wise to replace unit. and get new full warranty

Having powered off my microwave I cannot reset the clock. The clock icon doesn't work and no functions will work until the clock is reset. It is an em d952 which I think is a Sanyo.
You need to have your microwave powered on to use any of the controls.

How do I set Clock?
Disconnect the microwave from the power source while the power is still out. If the microwave is a built-in, turn off the circuit breaker. Otherwise, unplug the microwave from the wall outlet. This prevents a power surge from damaging the magnetron tube when the power is restored.Turn on the circuit breaker or plug the microwave into the outlet only when you are sure that the power is permanently restored. If there are still storms in the area, the power may be disrupted again. Reset the clock on the microwave. Microwaves vary slightly on how to set the clock, but usually there is a clock button you press. Use the number pad to input the correct time and press the clock button again to set it. Test the microwave by heating some water to ensure that it is still in good operating condition.

If you have access to where your microwave is plugged in, unplug it for a few minutes and then plug it back in. This will reset your contol panel. Then follow your book directions to reset the time on the clock. Hope this helps!

GE spacemaker Power goes off and clock needs resetting
Try going to the breaker box and shutting off the power to the microwave for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, turn back on and set the clock. This fixed my clock and turntable both. Apparently turning off the power resets the software in the clock.

Sanyo microwave clock reset
This is the generic instructions to set the clock. I have visited the sanyo site to aquire a owners manual with no success in locating one. This being said, here are the instructions.

  1. Unplug the unit for a minute then plug unit in.
  2. Press the clock (clock/timer) button once.
  3. Using the keypad, input the time you wish to set.
  4. Press the clock (clock/timer) button once.
  5. Press the stop/clear button, Time should remain.

Shuts off after maximum of 8 seconds. does heat when on.
Sounds like the controller board has failed, assuming a circuit breaker has not tripped or fuse has not blown.
If all you do is reset the clock, and then it looses time, regardless of using the microwave, then it points to the clock/controller board.
If this only happens when you use the microwave portion for a few seconds, I would be suspicious of the microwave circuit, where there are several components that could cause the failure.
