Find your original sales-receipt, and telephone Toshiba,
to show that you have proof-of-ownership.

You cannot "reset" the password -- nor can a thief who has stolen your laptop -- this is for your own protection.

Because the fan doesn't work, your laptop is overheating and going into thermal shutdown. have the fan replaced and the area where it is screwed to cleaned as it harbours dust over time preventing adequate cooling.

Chances are your CMOS battery is dead, it can be replaced inexpensively if you do it yourself. After taking the laptop apart, locate the battery, it looks like a large watch battery. When you remove it, note the battery type and run to your nearest battery store for a replacement.

Toshiba Satellite M105-S3004 says no operating system found. tried to insert restore disc but it runs for about 20 seconds then turns off.

it sounds like your HDD has suffered a critical error. Go here and download this torrent. This will need to be burned to a disk. now it comes with FreeDos installed. Put the disk in the drive and bootup. use option 5 to repair your HDD. after this finishes try booting your system up.

Bios password reset

from the Toshiba support site

The BIOS and Supervisor passwords cannot be removed or changed unless you know the existing password(s). If you forget your BIOS or Supervisor password, you will have to have the password removed by a Toshiba Authorized Service Provider. Although the prompts for these two passwords have the same appearance, the passwords are set and removed differently. If both are set, the Supervisor password takes precedence.

I assume that the notebook will have a BIOS battery similar to a standard PC. If you are happy to disassembe it you may be able to reset the BIOS by removing the battery and/or locating the bios reset jumper

Another alternative is to If this doesn't work or you dont want to disassemble the PC, you can try to build the Toshiba Parallell loopback.

A lot of Toshiba computers remove the password when you boot it up with the loopback connected

It can be made out of a 25pin male connectors (db25). Connect these pins: 1-5-10, 2-11, 3-17, 4-12, 6-16, 7-13, 8-14, 9-15, 18-25

Toshiba m105 s3004 bios password

i have a Toshiba satellite M105-S322 and all i had to do is open the ram compartment and pull up the plastic sticker or whatever you want to call it between the motherboard and the ram. There is a jumper called "CMOS_CLR1" use a screwdriver to short out the pins and it clears the CMOS.

Password needed

Hello nic208, The problem is you have a BIOS level password installed. Laptop owners and computer departments sometimes install them in case the laptop is lost or stolen to prevent unauthorized users from gaining access.
