Battery

have you tried using other brand of batteries ?
if you use rechargeable batteries, try them fully charged at another device and see if they last that long. if they last more than in the camera, then your camera might have an electric issue

Kodak EasyShare Z612 Shuts down after taking a few pictures.

Question : What batteries can I use in my digital camera, and how long do they last?
Battery life depends on how you use your camera, the type of batteries you select, and how you handle the batteries.

Your camera is compatible with: KODAK Li-Ion Rechargeable Battery KLIC-8000 and KODAK CRV3 Lithium Batteries: A non-rechargeable battery. (so your battery might be in need of a change)

Using Your Camera

Some features, such as reviewing pictures and using the flash, require more power than others. Follow these guidelines to get the best use of your batteries:
  • Limit the time your camera is in Review mode.
  • Limit your use of the flash.
  • Use the LCD Dimmer or Auto Power Off features, if available on your camera.
  • Transfer your pictures to your computer using a compatible power adapter, camera dock, printer dock, or memory card reader.
  • Check that the latest firmware is installed on your camera. See Software, Driver & Firmware Downloads.
Handling Your Batteries
  • Wipe the battery contacts with a clean, dry cloth before loading it in your camera.
  • When using your camera in temperatures below 41° F (5° C), carry spare batteries and keep them warm.
  • Do not discard cold batteries that do not work; they may be usable when they return to room temperature.
  • Do not allow batteries to touch metal objects, including coins. Otherwise, the batteries may short-circuit, discharge energy, become hot, or leak.

Kodak Easyshare Camera died inthe open position

Hello

Thank you for using
FixYa for your problem

Your camera is faulty. It should be taken to an authorized repair centre for a repair estimate. Very few digital cameras have any user-serviceable parts.
As it is still under guarantee, I would ask for a replacement as the unit has not worked from day 1

Please rate our solutions and if you still have problems please call back for more ideas to help you

My Kodak EasyShare Z712 IS problem is with the batteries. I'm using the Kodak Digital Batteries and they will only last about 30 minutes..even when I just use the viewfinder instead of the LCD. My son can...

I've had the exact same problem with mine. My wife was ready to buy a new one, but I didn't want to giveup the nice optical zoom on the Z712 IS. Checking out the web and a friend of ours with the same camera, it appears to be a common problem. My last time to try the camera, I took 19 pictures on brand new batteries and they died. The Kodak site doesn't really acknowledge a problem with the camera, but I found the latest firmware (1.06) and just walked around the house taking pictures with flash. At 25 pictures, I'm still going strong. Definitely worth a try to see if it fixes your problem: http://www.kodak.com/global/mul/service/downloads/DownloadFile.jhtml?locsvcsEntryPath=10807&product=EKN033025&operatingSystem=windows_xp&lang=en&type=firmware&downloadId=dln00179_file1&variant=false&pq-path=14091
