I have the same excact problem as contentguru with my krazr. I took it in to Verizon store and they said a software update might help but when they tried to do the update she said my phone wouldnt even connect to there software or something so she told me to buy a new phone! i just got that phone and she says its not under warranty. It seems to me there must be something they can do to refomat my phone but there just trying to sell me another one instead. please help. I have the same excact problem as contentguru with my krazr. I had this exact same problem with my CRAZR--it would, every ten seconds, freeze, shut itself off, then turn itself back on, and it would happen regardless of whether I was doing something with it or not. I took it in to get looked at. Turned out I just needed to delete all of my text messages in my inbox and sent folders--they were eating up all of my memory and causing my phone's software to crash. Since I deleted everything, I haven't had a problem.
Moral of the story: Periodically delete your text messages.

Hi Robert , can you clarify what you mean by a trickle charger ?, any chance of a photo of the charger ?
using a standard gel battery charger , the charger will charge the batteries in question and once fully charged, the charger will trickle charge the batteries.. This is a standard operation and recommended by battery makers...
Try get another battery, it could be that the present battery you are using is malfunctioning, it could be bad and that could be the reason why it is shutting off and on, first, replace the battery to check the performance.
when you plug in the charger cable to your phone, make sure that you allow it to charge at least 2 hours, if your phone shuts off immediately after this amount of time, you likely need a new battery, they will wear out after a certain number of recharge cycles.. contact your motorola distributer or motorola website to purchase a replacement.
Note do not accept "Non-Motorola Batteries or chargers as these are not guaranteed to provide the proper current necessary to safely recharge your battery, if you notice the battery getting Hot, then disconnect the charger immediately and let it cool, before removing and disposing. Remember it is normal for the battery to be warm to touch while charging or the phone itself is in use. but if it gets hot to the touch this is not normal, and the battery needs replaced..
