That model number is not correct. What is an EHT? Must mean HVT High voltage transformer. If this set is 26 inch or smaller replace it. If larger yes replace the transformer.
Hello! Try the audio out. Run the audio to a receiver to see if the audio is there. If it is, then I'd leave it hooked up to the receiver and save yourself some money. If there is not any low level audio out then I'd fix the set. The only Sony set I've ever seen that was not worth fixing was a 32" model from the early 1990's that had bad picture tubes after only 5 years. I am a Sony factory trained tech. Good Luck!
I have had my Sony KV-32FV15 for about 2 years now and nothing has ever gone wrong(even going through several moves.) I recently moved again and when I plugged in the TV, you can hear the sound perfectly but the screen just stays black. You can not even hear the squeal that the TV makes when comming on. Is there anything that I should initially look at to troubleshoot. I cannot afford at this time the $250 fee to repair my TV. I look forward to your input and hopefully I can get this TV working again.
You have your information incorrect, Q is not the designation for diodes, Q657 would be a transistor. First give us the correct number for the diode and how do you know it is shorted?
AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the Cboard, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking.
It's normal for new sets, especially Sonys to do that due to some sort of gas build-up in the new tube. My set still gets a
high-pitched buzz after power on and lasts for a minute or two before silencing.
If the hissing continues when the TV is turned off return it to the shop ASAP. It could be a problem with the power supply, something getting ready to blow up.
Good luck
