Question about BenQ PB6100 Multimedia Projector

4 Answers

Projector shuts down after only a few minutes.

After somewhere between 10-30 mins of operation, the projector seems to turn itself off.

The projector will blank out and the red 'lamp' light blinks. The fan continues for about 30 seconds (which seems shorter than normal?) and when complete the orange 'Power' light goes on, indicating 'Stand-by' mode.

At this point, I can turn the projector on again and get another 10 minutes.

I have tried to clean out the unit - did I miss some important, easy to miss, vent?
I have just replaced the lamp, and though the image is brighter, this shut-off behaviour still occurs.

Is this temperature related?
Is this a problem with the projector itself?
Is my second lamp defective?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

I fiddled with the menu settings and turned the auto shut-off to zero.

I also reseated the lamp again.

One of these two things seems to have solved the problem for now...

My unit just shuts down after only 25 seconds of powering-up, any suggestions?

  • ramunch Oct 28, 2008

Projector starts in stand-by mode, i press the power button, fans run to full rpm and it sits there for about 30seconds to a minute without a picture, then fans shut off and lamp led blinks red.

The lamp should last 2000ish hours and this lamp has less than 200hours on it so i'm very hesitant to drop 300bucks on buying a new lamp, especially when others here have said it didn't fix the problem.

The solution says to get into the menus, I can't do that as I never get a picture.

    Any other suggestions?

I'm having the same problem. My Model is PB8253. Projector started, then afer a couple minutes it goes off with the red lamp led flashing.
Just replaced the lamp, but the problem persists. Tried to remove all connecting cables, except for the power, but still the same problem.

Keeps turning off

So, Shutting down to protect itself. The error light says it needs service, Cycling power makes it work for a few more minutes, then the Panasonic safety circuit shuts it down. Projector shuts down when bulb life gets to the danger zone, and also when its heat sensor says there is a problem.
So you have a bulb life issue or you have a dirty projector / fan cooling issue??

I say clean it up with some compressed air when it is cool, then check the # of hours the bulb has on it (in the menu).

Lastly brace yourself, the bulb is gonna hurt you :-$

In few minutes after turn on the projector (Eiki Lc-xnb4m) , it shut off automaticlly. and i connect notebook with the projector ,no any reaction. i don't know how to operate it?

are any of the leds flashing? could be overheating. blow out the dust with canned air. if the lamp is old, it could be that it needs to be replaced. if the fans go out immediately as well, it could be the power supply.
