disconnect all the cables except the power cable and then turn the monitor on you would see a test screen if it still happens your monitor is faulty and better buy a new one as repairing is usually expensive .
also check you warenty its usually 3 years
If your Dell monitor still under into warranty, better to call Dell technical support and have them replace your monitor coz there is no way you can fix on it.
If the monitor is beyond with the warranty already, better to but a new one than taking it repair that will cost you much.
It could be the Monitor, the VGA adapter, or the PC itself. If you power on the monitor without anything connected to it, do you ever see anything on the display?
If not, it is probably the Monitor. If yes, it is likely the vga adapter and/or PC.
reduce the hardware acceleration on it. I resolved it by reducing acceleration and changing my screen size. It works. I wanted higher resolution but it doesn't seem to be possible for some reason.
Good luck.
Hi Gaz, First, verify the monitor is functional. Monitor STFC (Self Test Feature Check) Turn off the monitor Plug the monitor power cord directly into the wall socket to remove any surge protectors or APCs from the troubleshooting equation Unplug the monitor video cable from the back of the computer Turn on the monitor The floating dialog box should appear on screen against a black background. If the issue appears during the STFC, the monitor is defective. What are the results please?
Your computer is set to a resolution supported by your dell monitor but not the flat screen tv.
The easiest way to get it working is to turn the computer off, connect the flat panel to the computer and then turn the computer on.
To change the resolution of the flat-panel or monitor, right-click on the desktop, click on properties and then select the settings tab.
play with the screen resolution and find one that works best by trying each one and clicking apply. If you select a resolution not supported by your flat panel, computer will automatically revert to the previous resolution in 15 secs.
I start my computer and turn it on, and everything looks fine for about 1/4 of a second and then it goes black while leaving the power light green. I can only see the screen again after turning it off and on, but that's only for another 1/4 second. What's up? I got my rosewill flatscreen as a hand me down from my father. I've had it for several years now. Was working fine until a month ago. When I turn the computer on the screen goes black after 1/4 of a saecond. I have to turn it off and on anywhere from 10 to 20 times before it stays on. I have checked all plugs to the computer and outlets. I have absolutely no idea whats causing this.
