Aspire 5535 making noise when booting up

After pressing the power button and initiating the bootstrap process, several different pieces of hardware in your computer are powering up which could be the cause of this noise.

In a laptop of the make and model you're using I highly suspect the noise is emanating from the left side of the laptop, implicating either the exhaust fan's ball bearings or the main motor on the Hard Disk Drive (HDD). Acer laptops almost always have their Central Processing Units (CPUs) under the upper-left part of the keyboard panel, as seen from above. They also tend strongly to placing the HDD beneath the touch-pad portion of the "palm" panel, beneath the area just left of the actual touch-pad.

Quite recently I had a client troubled by the same noise on start-up, and although it was an Acer Aspire E 15 (E5-571-33VT), they still had the same basic design with the HDD and CPU placed as I described above. That particular case of start-up noise turned out to not really be as much of a problem as an annoying false alarm caused by poor quality shock-absorbers on the HDD removable tray or housing into which the HDD is secured by four small screws.

From this experience and from using a number of Acer laptops (and a similarly designed Compaq Presario C700) personally over the last few years, my best recommendation is to ignore the noise so long as you do not experience automatic shutdowns due to the CPU overheating or the accumulation of bad sectors on your HDD.

My acer aspire 5535, amd turion x2battery runs out faster than it used to

The battery starts a slow decline over months and years, eventually you will notice the time between charges gets less and less until you are down to minutes, this quite normal for these batteries. The average life span is one to three years for most batteries before replacement is required.

Startup repair

It has a corrupt startup file. Repeating problems like this mean it is not being written over from the disc. so the problem persists. You may have to do a re-installation of Vista to rectify this.

Acer Aspire 4315, making noise near fan

You would need to open it, has the laptop been dropped? This is the only way I know that could cause this problem. I suggest you fix this problem because it will cause overheating of you chips, that will eventually cause failure. Opening a laptop is not for novice, unless you trust yourself you can do it, have it done in a shop that fixes laptops. Some electronic shop can do this for you at a resonable price.

No this is quite common, more so since dual core processors as they need cooling more often, you may find it even comes on when surfing the net, because there are allsorts of processes going on in the background, especially in Vista models

Your Asus was lower spec and thats why the cooling fan was less noticeable, some laptops require the fan torun 99% of the time, so enjoy your Acer, they are very reliable.

Acer Aspire 5580 suddenly slowed down

Your acer is infected with virus that current antivirus cannot detect. uninstall new application programs that make your computer slower. however if non of those causes; please try to check the memory maybe is not function well. if it is not the cause then; You should reinstall your system to fixed all error on it. ( note: reinstalling will remove some important files and you should back up) Further more; the best thing to do is format the HDD and install the new windows.

Harry: take note: that other causes of the computer slower is the HDD , I encountered 50 times problems that computer become slower bcoz of the hard drive mulfunction. If this is the case you should replace hard drive that is covered with warranty.

Clicking Fridge

I used to have a whirlpool fridge, they are the ones who make kenmore too. It used to make a loud thud noise. It was the compressor turning off. sometimes it was loud enough to wake me up at night. It did this for years and I never had any problems with it. when I purchased a larger fridge I sold it to a friend and its still working today. If you can tolerate the noise I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts giving you trouble.
