Question about Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2) Console

My ps2 wont load certain games

I have an orginal ps2 and it wont load certain games i have 2 brand new games that it wont load what should i do??

hello .. my older big ps2 gets to the loading screen of certon games nhl 08 for example you see the nhl08 symbol and the loading bar beneath and it will load for a while and then just stop loading and stay on that screen what do I do i cleaned and adjusted the laser and still nothing?

We cant get past the loading screen and its only the gh3 that wont load.

Take the game back. I have run into that with a few and some still won't read after being replaced. I have about 15 that work fine but 2 that have been replaced twice but still won't read.

That is a common problem with some ps2s some do it and some don’t just certain ps2 will only play certain games sorry I know this probably doesn’t help just some info

PS2 disc reading

use a q-tip and rubbing alcohol to clean the lens.if you don't have a slim ps2 that will involve opening the ps2.it's not that hard really,works every time.

there isnt and auto load the game has to work and already be in the system for it to work if your ps2 is slow it will go to the browser is loading it up oh and the loading disk thing mine will not play gran turismo 4 but while it was loading i tipped it on its side and it went

Some games are for other regions of the world, the machines are made to only play certain regions games, hence people chipping them, the downloaded games may be missing encrypted data, thus wont play.

Does it make a clicking sound as it tries to read the disk?

I had the same problem and it turns out that it is the console. But it is easily remedied. I cannot take credit but follow this link and you will see it is an easy fix.

ok maybe your laser is dirty - buy a disk cleaner (a disk that has brushes to clean laser)

you need to get a laser disk which cleans the inside of the ps2 especially for ps2 games and if that doesnt work then you need to get someone to undo all the case and clean it themselves hope that helps :)

I used to have a ps2 and experienced this exact problem. In my case the lense was dirty, I opened my ps2 and VERY carefuly wiped my lens with methelated spirit (becareful, some methelated spirits that contain oils ment to prevent their consumption, these must be avoided!)then blew out the whole system with a hair dryer. Reassembled it and VWALA! it worked like it was bran new or even better!
