Purple and green digital lines across film

I am trying to capture footage from a dv tape using the sony dsr-11, and purple and green digital lines (consistently four of them about .25" thick) show up. It is not a problem with the tape because I was able to capture the footage using my little dv camcorder. Is my sony tape deck broken? Anyone know how to fix the problem or what the problem is?

I have the same exact problem. purple and green lines across the screen and I know the tapes are fine because I can playback the footage on my camera.

I have the same exact problem. Purple and green lines through the video on my screen. The tape is fine when I play it back in my camera.

I've had the same problem and have recified it by unplugging and replugging the firewire cable into the back of the deck and the computer.  I think sometimes the deck loses its mind and just needs to be pushed/kicked a bit.  This solution works every time for me.

The heads are dirty. Run a self cleaning tape through if for about 20 seconds and that should fix it right up!!

One of the units is not making good interchange in recording (CAMCORDER) or (PLAYBACK) DSR11 deck either buy or get a known good recording to isolate the bad unit. Camcorders are notorious for loss of interchange as the cassette compartment wears out the scissors jack elevator gets sloppy and changes the angle of attack on the drum and wellah a tape that only plays back in the camcorder.

USB Driver for dsr pdx10 for mac

You do not need drivers to get the footage from tape to a Mac. You do require a firewire cable and use iMovie or Final Cut to capture.

Hi,
Try to playback with other tape recorded earlier from other camera or VTR .If other tapes are palying properly without any glitches then it might be the problem with this recording.

DSR 11 won't record DV tape to its end

You need to use longer tapes. The DER-11 is a DVCAM deck which when recording, uses a faster tape speed then mini DV. Think of your older VCR's. They had SP, two hours, and EP or SLP, which would be six hours. The SP speed would give a better picture. DVCAM is more like an SP recording except digital and a lot better. More information is laid down on the tape.

You'll have to jump up to the full size DVCAM tapes in order to record the full hour.

Drop-out glitch with Fuji mini-DV tapes

Unfortunately, the outlook is grim. If you duped the tape and the dropouts still appear, the anomalies are regrettably on the master itself, or the DSR11 is malfunctioning.
To be sure, try the following: View the master tape on a different deck, if possible. If glitches vanish, problem solved. Connect the AV/RCA out to the input on whatever digital deck you're using, and capture as usual with FCP. (If you need assistance with this step, I'll be happy to walk you through or send you in the right direction) Optimally, for a Hi8 tape, you would capture using DV 60i settings.
If glitches still appear, try capturing audio and video in two separate occurrences, I.E. One capture for video only, and a second capture for audio only. Sync in final cut.
If that doesn't work, your other option is to send the tape out to a post production house/lab, and see if they can do it -  but if you've tried everything else and resorted to this option, the chances are slim that much can be done - Hi8 tapes are notoriously difficult to recover. Best of luck, and do let me know I can be of further assistance :)

DSR 11 playback problem

Pete, we are having the same problem with 2 dsr-11s.

The fix for us was the "auto repeat" switch on the back of the unit. It was "on" please turn it off.

The other idea was that the tape tension is very sensitive in the units, try exercising the tape (though exorcise might be good too) by fast-forwarding then rewind the tape start to finish. Tape that were tightly wound at the factory can cause this proble as well. Good Luck. Greg VA

DSR-11 pixelates on right side of Screen

most likely problem is a misadjusted exit guide post. cleaning would not solve the problem; if you have a service manual and know how to adjust the guide, you can do it yourself. otherwise, it's a job for a technician with the proper test equipment.

Cannot film

Dear carooooo, You are dealing with tape not film. Your problem might be in your tape.   Try running your tape on record the full length. Keep your lens cap on. Color balance and use new tape that's for your Sony.         jameskeyboar.

Sony DSR-11 Will Not Recognize Timecode

I think you may have misconfigured something because the problem is not in your DSR-11 try connecting it to a monitor and you will see the time stamp and picture as proof of what I am saying. The problem I think is that your Mac is not processing the time stamp correctly. Try this link first it helped me: Remember follow the instructions ezactly: http://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/35/856108
