We have a belling format oven - when we turn the top oven on it is making a sound like a helicopter

Without more detail on what is or isn't coming on I would suggest a damaged circuit. Suggest a Service Engineer.

Sounds like the cooling fan bearings are worn, hence the noise after you turn the cooker off.This fan is in the top of the oven and helps to keep the inside cooker electrics cool and often keeps going for a while after you have turned the cooker off. Best to call an engineer to check this out for you!

does the noise start as soon as you turn the fan oven on?
does the noise stop as you turn off?
just depending what make and model you have there is two fans
in it 1 is the fan motor inside oven at back and other
is the cooling fan which is at top of oven .you just need
to find out which one it is and just replace . then should be back to normal

If it has a timer, make sure it is set to manual.
If it is digital try resetting timer, if anologue then a hand symbol should be showing.
