What is the red light next to the green power light? It appears to look like a temperature light. My unit won't run.

In most cases it means the shredder is full or something is jammed. Empty the shredding container. If the machine has a "reverse" position on its switch, try running it backwards to get whatever is jamming the teeth to come back out.

Have a Rinnai thru-the-wall 1001f. Has run flawlessly for over 15 years until now. When the heater runs, it runs fine. But we find the heater is turning itself off more and more lately. On the front panel...

I had the same very exact problem and got my hands on the service manual for the Rinnai 1001 series heater to solve it. As fas as the spark gap it should be 3mm but I went through a lot of tests of the components and found that Solenoid 1 coil was open. It should read about 1.3K and mine was completely open. Solenoid 1 is the one against the back cover. You'll need a small inspection mirror to see it but it is part number C23B-23. REMOVE POWER/UNPLUG FROM THE WALL FIRST then pull the plugs off all of them and check the resistance of the coils, they all should be about 1.2-1.3K. If you havent already found the answer I hope this helps.
Also check the pressure switch, bottom right side in the front. Its a disk, diaphram type device about 4 inches in diameter with a microswitch on it. That switch should close, zero to 1 volts across it, once the combustion fan starts up and builds a little pressure. If it doesnt it could be the switch or the intake or exhaust parts of the flue or filters are clogged.

TV won't turn on...after hitting the power button, the light turn green for about 3 seconds, then turns red and the screen never come on. Pressing the power button again turns the whole thing off (no...

It seems that your unit has some sort of PSU fault, or a problem that is shutting down the Power Supply Unit, PSU. This happens so that no further damage, and possible fire will occur.
You need to take the unit to a reputable service centre/man and ask for a firm "Quote" for the work to be done.

Ds lite flashes on but fuses are ok

One or both your screens have blown.

Try removing the motherboard from the screens and attach the battery the green light should turn on and stay on.

Now attach the lower screen and turn on. If the screen is ok the screen and green light will flash and then turn off. (if the screen doesn't flash the bottom screen is you're problem and will have to be replaced)

If this happens the problem is then you're top screen which you will have to replace.

Had overheated. Now after several hours the green light and red light go on. No motor sound??

hi,
Turn it off and let it sit idle for about an hour. This should cure an overheating problem
For no power and green light and red light go on, the problem is with power switch- top of unit.

After remove all screws, you need LONG-LONG screwdriver and one short screwdriver with out handler, because few screws almost imposable to remove. you make few holes on bottom of unit to remove 4 screws.
you have two ways to fix switch problem-
1. replace it, if you can find new switch.
2. solder two wire to switch and make a hole on top of unit. when you need to power unit, turn back switch on and touch two wire as switch.

Paper jam. Ready lite comes on but shreder will not start shreding

Common problem with paper shreds blocking the sensors on top and bottom of cutter asm. You may have to remove the top of unit to properly clean. When removing top, be very careful with the short ribbon cable. Lift top slowly and then reach under and disconnect from main board. Once top is off, you can cycle motor by hand and try to remove shreds with needle nose pliers. Of course, disconnect power first.

Royal 1280 MX green light turns red, does not run

The 1280mx has a circuit that detects the high current when the motor is jammed. The 5 watt, 0.5 ohm resistor/fuse (marked as R1) that is part of this circuit blew on my unit. No visible signs of failure, you have to remove it from the circuit board to test it. When R1 fails more current than normal passes through the R2-1k ohm resistor; need to check if it also failed.
