AC adapter cut out ? Home docking station

AC adapter charges battery. After turning on the Air Wave for a minute a Static sound starts. Tried unplugging adapter. no static but volume goes down and tone is poor. Tried new battery worked for five minutes. If I plug back the ac adapter it will work for a minute normally. I spliced in another adapter with the same volt and amps. It did not even charge. I tested the adapter and it was putting out 5 dc volts without a load.

I simply had to order a new AC adapter from Pioneer and it solved the problem. That sonic high-frequency sound was horrible!

I have this problem too with my TAO xm2go, and that company is no longer around. But, after searching, I found there is no solution for this problem. Sorry!

My Dell Latitude D505 will only charge the battery through the docking station. I have used mulitple chargers and none will charge batt outside of the docking station. Any suggestions??

Hi,

Im very sorry to hear that, please follow these simple steps for you to be able to isolate the exact problem.

1. Removed the battery.
2. Connect the laptop directly to the power outlet without using the battery just for the meantime.
3. Turn on the laptop. If the laptop is able to power on, that means that the AC adapter is working fine as well as the DC port. If the laptop is not able to turn on, it maybe the AC adapter itself or the DC port.
4. Try to use another AC adapter if possible, make sure that that AC adapter is working fine. If the laptop is still not turning on, the problem is with the DC port itself. In that case, you will need to replaced the Motherboard itself.

Hope this will help...Thank you for using Fixya...

sounds like the situation is with the AC adapter detection. try to restore your BIOS defaults and update BIOS if applicable. Test another AC adapter. If that fails, most likely, this is with the motherboard. You may either get a new board, or just continue to charge it using the docking station.

The D800 says it is docked or running on battery, push F1 to shut down. This happens at power on and with AC power adapter being used. Have tried other power adapter(90 watt) and no docking station being...

There's a "slide-away" coverv on the bottom of the laptop, where the docking-station's adapter would connect. Manually slide the cover, and inspect to ensure that there's nothing stuck there that is "tricking" the laptop into claiming that it is docked.

DEAD PRESARIO 1925 NOTEBOOK

Try this, with laptop removed from docking unit:

1. Press and hold the laptop power button down, for 10 seconds.
2. Now remove the battery
3. Repeat step one above
4. Let the laptop sit for 10 minutes.
5. Reinstall the battery
6. Make sure docking station is unplugged, and insert laptop into docking station.
7. Plug in power supply (to dock)
8. Start the laptop.
9. IF IT STARTS, let it run a while to see if the battery is charging
10. Remove it from the dock and repeat steps 1-5 above and then go directly to 8 (start without connecting dock).

CONCLUSIONS: If the laptop started in the dock on step 9 but not 10 (only on battery), your battery or power regulator circuit may be damaged. However, if it starts in step 10 but not step 9, your docking station -or its AC power supply may be damaged Let me know how this comes out, please.
