Your TV is experiencing a convergence issue as indicated by the 3 blinks. The only way to fix this is replacing the convergence ICs. It is not a hard task to replace these ICs. You just need to know how to solder and work on printed circuit boards.

The convergence ICs are mounted on a large heat sink and are marked with codes starting with the letters STK and there are two of them. You need to replace both.

Look for the heat sink with two ICs mounted on it and check the markings.

Once found, cut the IC legs with a small side cutter and unscrew it from the heat sink. Remove the legs left soldered on the board.

Take note of the IC markings for ordering the right part and how it was installed. Don't forget to buy along with the IC a thermal compound.

Check the pico fuses on the same board. Most likely you will find a blown one. These fuses look very much like a resistor, not like the usual transparent fuse, and usually yellow.

Once you have the replacement ICs, put it on the board in the same way as it was installed before. Make sure the screw holes are aligned before soldering the legs into the board.

Put a reasonable amount of thermal grease/compound between the ICs and the heat sink and fix them with the screws.

Double check the board for any splash of solders that might cause a short circuit and damage the board.

You have a problem with the main power supply regulator IC chip and the first step is to have that replaced. Does the set turn off this way when you play a DVD? Often a DVD will play fine all the way through when the reg IC is failing because the signal strength of the DVD is lower than the broadcast signal. If you replace the reg IC and the problem persists then you have to troubleshoot the High Voltage Shutdown circuit.

Sony kdl52xbr9 it comes on i can see picture and sound for a couple of seconds, then it shuts off and blinks 6 times

Hi! and Welcome to Fixya!

Blinking red lights on the tv are error codes that explains hardware issues on the tv.

However, if after turning ON the tv and you will see the Sony logo on the screen before the picture goes off and then flashes red lights for a number of times, this could mean that tv can still be recovered. Try the option below to isolate possible issue with settings that cause your tv to shut off. Disconnect first all external devices from the tv

1. Turn ON tv first and wait until it flashes the red lights > press and hold down the UP Arrow button ( use remote control ) > while holding down the UP Arrow button, press the POWER button on the tv > tv turns off, wait until it turns on by itself > release the UP Arrow button when tv turns on

Note: reset is successful when you see a welcome screen on the tv and ask you to select your Language. This is the Initial Setup, just follow the on-screen instruction

If that solution did not resolve the issue then a service may be recquired.

Let me know if this helps!

Heard a pop, tv went off, then doesnt come back on

Your unit has some sort of PSU fault, or a problem that is shutting down the Power Supply Unit, PSU. This happens so that no further damage, and possible fire will occur. The sound is it starting up, shutting down, over and over.

You need to take the unit to a reputable service centre/man and ask for a firm "Quote" for the work to be done.

Need Help big screen turns on thens goes off

a tv has two components, firstly a power supply produces high voltage to trigger a line transformer, in turn a transformer produces smaller voltages. firstly check if the ht is constantly been produced from a supply, if this is there than go to a line transformer, and check voltages at the output.

Sony LCD television will not power on.

I get 5 blinking red lights for about a minute or so before it powers back down. The Sony TV has a specific light that i presume is supposed to light up when the bulb is out. I'm unsure if this is what it is.
no picture, no sound. tries to boot with green light blinking a few times. then goes to red blinking light, six in all, then waits a few moments, then another 6 blinking red light.
Bulb was already replaced several months ago but we do have the TV on for long periods of time.
