The front and left cover interlock switchs are bad.
The spring inside the switches get weak and are marginally making contact.
Not good enough contact to close, so it sits there and clicks and clicks and clicks.
One or both of those switches need replaced.

Welcome to FixYa!

Note: When removing and inserting back the print cartridges, you need to use a small amount of force because of its safety locks. Just be careful not use excessive force, it might damage your printer.

If your printer has Two Cartridge System with no latches, here's a proper way to remove and insert the print cartridge. Please refer to the image below.

1. Press down the tip of the print cartridge and pull it away. You will hear a "click/tick" sound while pressing it downwards.

3. Slide in the new print cartridge in its holder.
4. Lock it by doing the figure #4 in the picture below. You will hear a "click/tick" sound which indicates that it is locked.

I have a SATO M-8400RV printer that stopped printing. When powered on, it make a rapid ticking sound, the display is flickering and the stepper motor does not move although it apears to be receiving at...

Sounds like the power supply/motor drive board is bad. You might consider a new printer or repair the power supply. The printer is obsolete and only a few parts are currently available from Sato

Kindly follow these steps:

I have an HL-5280DW it keeps making this loud ticking sound when I go to print and it said to replace the drum and I did and it continues to make the loud ticking/popping sound. What should I do?

Take out the drum and toner shut the door and power up, if the noise is still there during the power up short run, you probably need a new fuser. If the noise goes away with toner and drum removed you probably need a new toner. New ones, especially generic toners are too hard to turn and make that noise.

The printer will not print from Microsoft documents. Paper feeds but no image/text. New cartridges have been inserted.

Go to Printers and Faxes
When the page opens you should see an icon with the make and model of your printer there.

There should be a tick against it saying it is the default printer if not right click on the icon and select "make default"

If the tick is there hit the "print test page" box at the bottom of the page , the printer should do a single test sheet

If not make sure you have your installation disk handy for the printer then go to Control Panel select Remove Hardware and delete the printer
Re-install the printer from scratch again

Printing black

Sounds very science fiction. The easiest thing to do is to uninstall the printer(+drivers), and reinstall. Or at least it's the easiest thing for me to think of ... ;] Do you get this only with text, or also with images?
