Long story but I had someone "attack" my T-72 Freezer and I'm trying to figure out what they did. I think they tried to replace the defrost switch with a non standard switch and stopped half way through the job. Regardless, I'm lost as to what has been done. 1) Where exactly is the defrost switch suppose to mount on the T-72F? 2) How many switches that look like the defrost switch are installed/located in the same area? I know the defrost switch has two black and one brown/redish wire. My defrost switch is dangling and the two black wires have been cut. I also see another switch mounted that has two red wires plus another switch that has two black wires. I'd appreciate any clues to untangle this mess?.

Go to this web site. Be sure to have the serial and model numbers. You can request a wiring diagram from the tech line. This is most likely your best place to start. True uses a variety of different devices so I would do this first.
Let me know if I can be of more help after you get diagram.

Heater elements not coming on

Is it the defrost heater element? There are several possibilities. Check defrost timer operation and output, check overheat limit klixon (attached to evaporator), check heater continuity.

Sounds like a defrost problem. Check to see if there is any frost buildup in the back wall of the freezer. If so, it is not defrosting as it should.
  • possible causes:
  1. bad defrost timer/control board
  2. bad defrost heater (in freezer)
  3. bad thermo switch in freezer
If you don’t know what these are then unplug the machine and let the ice melt in the freezer overnight with the door open. Then try it the next day, if is cooling fine then you need to have a service person replace one of the above items.
  • if you already checked this and think it is a different problem then let me know, i will help you figure it out.

these are the usual suspects.

True T72F defrost timer and lights not working?

You have done good work here young man. There is a relay or switch that is keeping the signal for being processed. I had the same similar problem with mine. At least your compressor is ok. Are you sure timer is wired back right.

My true freezer won't defrost?

Check the defrost timer (in the base, circular knob you can turn till it clicks) If it doesn't heat up rapidly in the evaporator, there is a safety overheat device (thermistor) that may be cutting power to the heater, or there may be a fault with the heater itself. Are you sure the fans are working, and the condenser grill is nice and clean?

I have this majic chef freezer about 7 cubic ft. 3 years old turned it off to defrost and when turning it back on it won't get cold?? Compresser is hot so I believe it is working and lights on in front...

I'd let it dry out totally then try it again, some of the electronics may have gotten wet when you defrosted it. Give it a week somewhere warm and dry like a garage. If you didn't attack built up ice in the freezer with a knife while defrosting it it should work after it dries out. Most people end up killing freezers by accidently poking holes in the evap coil while trying to remove built up ice.

I have a Woods model F16CVREC freezer that has formed ice within the freezer compartment and warmed to the point of defrosting the food within the unit. Any ideas what the problem may be? Thanks Islander

This freezer has a thermostat that adjusts the coldness of this fridge marked on different ranges from lower to highest, if digital it's adjusted according to coldness you need your consumables to be. so try to adjust it to colder values or it mayn't be faulty not responding either not switching on compressor, this is why it warms up or switches on the compressor with out switching it off for a long time.

It also has a defrost timer that may need to be checked, even the compressor should be checked to
see weather it's working perfectly, plus the compressor relay this is attacked to the compressor
it could be tripping due a malfunctioning.

Contact a service engineer let him/her visit the mentioned areas.

Hope it works for you.

Whirlpool upright freezer AFG823NF-Thermostat not working properly

JennyT just trying to help with this. I assume this is a self defrost model. If so then is there an ice build up on the back wall? If so then the unit isn't defrosting. That is why pushing the Fast Freeze button is no longer working. You can get by however. Remove all the food from the freezer, put a vacumn in the freezer and shut the door. Turn on the vacumn, this will pull the warm air thru the freezer and in 30 minutes to an hour it will be defrosted enough to work until you can get someone to replace the 1 of 3 parts that the defrost system uses. The vacumn is what I use to defrost my nonself defrosting freezer. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
