Question about Motorola Walkie Talkie 2-Way Radio

2 Answers

TA288 Hi. I have a pair of TA288's and neither of them will switch on any more. The light on the screen flickers on for about half a second,I have put a tester on the batteries and they are reading 3,8Volts so I don't think it is battery trouble. Any ideas gratefully received! Thanks

How are you measuring the battery voltage? Do you first remove the battery before measuring? If so, then the voltage you measure is open-circuit voltage and cannot be the correct loaded value. It could still be the battery. Try to hook up a jig of the rated power directly to the walkie-talkie battery terminals and see if the problem is solve. That would confirm the usefulness of the battery. Also, with one unit plugged into the charger try to see if the charging voltage comes up correctly. Rechargeables usually last a year or two (never mind what the maker says).

Hi my magnum 32inch non smart tv screen keeps flickering the picture and sound is there but the back light keep flickering any help would be most appreciated

Hi Willis
As you said any help will be appreciated.....
I had a similar problem with a 27in Viewsonic screen. At times the bottom half of the screen looked slightly brighter than the top, it was like that for a while, then it started, one moment it was flickering, then fine the next and so on. The flickering periods increased until eventually it all went black. The screen still switched on and off as normal. If a bright torch was pointed at the screen it could be seen that the windows desktop was there, just no back lights. The CCFLs were off!!
Initially I suspected the power supply but after testing, it was found to be ok.
This particular screen has four CCFL 1.5mm tubes, two tubes side by side at the bottom and two at the top. On examination the IC driver for the bottom pair was found to be "cooked" and was replaced but there was no joy as the lights remained dead. Before replacing the IC again all wiring for the lamps was traced and found that at one end, the insulating rubber that supports the bottom pair of CCFL was all burned, the cables too were detached and black, burned to a crisp at the point where they solder to the tube. The flickering must have been as a result of the arcing between the tubes and the grounded shield support that protected the tubes. Unfortunately the vacuum of the tubes was breached by overheating and therefore they were now useless.
Replacement tubes were impossible to find locally and the ones from abroad were just too expensive, almost as much as a new screen. Reluctantly I had to buy a new one.
Hope this gives you some pointers as to what may be happening and if you are that way inclined, check by elimination. First check there are no "Fat" electrolytic capacitors or dry joints on the power supply, check the CCFL connectors to the circuit board, pull out and plug back in few times. Check for signs of overheating of the driver IC and finally check the CCFL solder ends.
Hope you find a fix.

Tv turns on and screen flickers on for a second and then turns off, whats the issue?

Sounds like Back - light problem.Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here.Surf the site with patience.Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.
To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS].In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

My ds lite just switched off and it was charged

Hi, so if you try switching on the ds lite, nothing at all happens ??
Does the green light flash even if it is for like a split second. If it does then it is more likely top be a blown fuse. If 1 of your screens flicker also, this could be your problem as the ds will not start up with a broken screen. Please advise

Hi there, I have a 2005 Infiniti QX56 which got a unique little problem with the lights in the dashboard. While the light setting is on Automatic and during night driving, the lights in the dashboard...

Have a look at the dashboard lights dimmer switch. That switch, losing contact momentarily while the lights are on, will cause the lights to flicker.

I switch out my phone for a different phone im trying to set my bluetooth to my new phone and its asking for my passcode i dont remember it. please help

You must put you headset in pairing mode, prior to trying to pair it with your phone. In order to do it, starting with it turned off, press and hold the power button for some 10 seconds, until the indicator light is alternately flashing in red and blue. It is in pairing mode now. Then, bring your phone close to it, and make its bluetooth application search for new devices. After a little while, your headset should appear on-screen. Select it and make it connect. If a pairing code (or passkey, or PIN) is requested, enter '0000' (four zeros). If the pairing process is successful, your headset should enter the stand-by mode (blue light flashing every few seconds). By the way, If its user guide happens to be missing, or, rather, you need further informations on how to pair it with your phone, feel free to download it from this location.

Dark display

Do you have another screen attached? This will cause this trouble. If not, if you look closely at the screen, can you see an image? You might be able to shine a light into the screen and see an image. If so, sounds like the inverter is or has died. Try tapping the bottom plastic on the screen when the laptop is on and see if it flickers. If it does perhaps it is a loose connection/solder joint on the inverter board.

TV switch light flickers 11 times but no function

Hopefully it is only a board component that needs replacing and your dry joints that need re-doing. I would advise that you take it to a television repair shop as this type of repair can be very complex (replacing resistors and capacitors just to name a few).
