The printer can't differentiate between the colour, but it may have problem if the couloured paper is thicker than the white stuff that you're using.

Why won't my printer print purple?

Your Cannon printer is not the problem. You will get different print color depending on the paper you are using, For example you will get different print result if you print on color paper than on white paper and a different print if you print on photo paper. Another alternative is to lighten the tone of your purple. I don't know what your objective is and what project you're working on but I hope this might help.

Hello Landscapeman ,

You need to specify the paper type when the print dialog box appears. Heavy glossy paper needs to spend more time in the fuser so that the toner is fixed.

My HP Photosmart C6380 all in One is now printing colour and black and white photos with a green/blue colour in dark/black areas of the photo replacing what should be black or gray. It never used to do...

To see which color is having an issue, go to printer control panel and select "settings" > Tools> Print report> Print Quality report. When the page prints out, you will see which color is the problem. After you have figured that out, make sure the problem is not with the cartridge.
If you see lines or missing colors, clean the printhead by removing it from printer(open cover, lift gray latch on the right side of the cartridges, remove cartridges and the printhead will easily slip out by pulling up)
then soak the printhead in half inch deep amount of window cleaning solution. Preferably warm. Let soak at least 3 hours. Dry out the printhead and wipe rear conacts from moisture and dirt. Reinstall into printer and see the results.

Photos come out totally blurred with colors mixed. Happens on all sizes of paper (photo quality).

  1. Make sure that there is letter, A4, or legal unused plain white paper in the input tray.
  2. Touch Setup on the display.
  3. Touch Tools .
  4. Touch Self-Test Report . A self-test report prints. Figure 1: Self Test Diagnostic Pagec01154260.png
  5. In the Print Quality Pattern section on the test page, look at the color blocks for any lines. Figure 2: Print Quality Patternc01154261.png
  6. If there is no color bleeding in the Print Quality Pattern color blocks, print a document to determine if the issue has been resolved.
If you have completed all of these steps and are still experiencing a problem, continue to Step three. Step three: Check the paper
  • Many papers have printing and non-printing sides. Load the paper with the printing side down.
  • Use the correct paper type for the project. For everyday documents, plain paper works well. For documents with dense printing, such as high-contrast graphics or photographs, use HP Advanced paper for the best results.
  • If these steps do not help, try a different paper. Ink might not bleed as easily on heavier paper. Paper that does not accept ink well is also prone to bleeding and smearing. HP designs its inks and papers to work together.
If you have completed all of these steps and are still experiencing a problem, continue to Step four. Step four: Check the printer settings
  1. In the software program you are trying to print from, click File and then click Print . The Print window opens.
  2. Make sure that your printer is selected and then click Preferences . The printer Preferences window opens.
  3. Click the Printing Shortcuts tab.
  4. The Printing Shortcuts tab lists most printing needs, but you might need to modify some of the options. Options on the Printing Shortcuts tab:
    • General Everyday Printing
    • Photo Printing-Borderless
    • Photo Printing-With White Borders
    • Fast/Economical printing
    • Presentation printing
    • Two-sided (Duplex) Printing

NOTE: These general printing shortcuts have pre-selected settings.
  5. To change the settings from the ones that are available on the Printing Shortcuts tab, click the Features or Color tab. Options on the Features or Color tab include:
    • Print quality : If you are unhappy with the quality of your printouts, try increasing the print quality. To print more quickly, try decreasing the print quality.
    • Paper type : If one of the options matches your paper type exactly, select it rather than Automatic.
    • Paper size : Make sure this matches your paper.
    • Print in Grayscale : Print a document in shades of gray.
    • Orientation : Specify how the document is positioned on the page.
    • Paper Source : Select the tray that you want to use for printing.
    • Two sided printing : Print on both sides of the paper.
    • Color Management : Specify the color space that the printer will use to interpret image data.
    • Pages per Sheet : Specify the number of pages of the document to print on each sheet.
If you have completed all of these steps and are still experiencing a problem, continue to Step five. Step five: Clean the printhead
NOTE: Do not clean the printhead unnecessarily because this wastes ink and shortens the life of the ink nozzles on the printhead.
  1. Make sure that there is plain white paper in the input tray.
  2. Touch Setup on the display.
  3. Touch Tools .
  4. Touch Clean Printhead . The HP All-in-One cleans the printhead and prints a test page.
Step six: Service your productIf you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product

DOES NOT PRINT IN BLACK

This may sound a bit dumb, but believe me as a tech support specialist, I have seen it happen. If you are trying to print a document, what color do you have set for text? I had a lady who wanted the text to be white on blue on the screen in Word and instead of setting it with a blue background and "auto" text, she set the text as white. White print on a white background (paper) doesn't show up...:-)

Ink issues Samsung CLP-510

Some paper tints can cause problems with color images, so make sure that you're using plain white paper, not another color such as beige, yellow, or blue. Even an off-white shade can affect your colors.

In addition, paper type can slightly influence your ink color. Highly absorbent papers can draw in the ink so quickly that the printed image may seem dull or a little washed out. If this is the case, try a coated paper that is specifically intended for color printing. If you're printing those important family vacation photos, use a good-quality glossy paper.

If your colors are way off, you may be running out of one or more ink colors. For example, blue and yellow are mixed to make green, so if your grass seems blue rather than green, you may be running out of yellow. Check your ink cartridges and replace any that are low or exhausted.

Thank you, & post back if you still need assistance.

Blue Toner finishes quicker

I can't imagine where toner could possible go from one of these sort of cartridges except on to your paper, I had a customer once with the same request and I found on their letter head that they printed with it had a single band of yellow across it hence excess yellow use,,,,,, Do your print runs of anything contain dark bands/underlines? I guess check to see if white background in any prints has a blueish tinge to it, or possiblly somehow black is running out and it is printing the blacks by mixing the colours (Check black block and text to see if it is really black not heaps dark blue to ensure black toner is operating)

next I'd be questioning if cartridges where brother ones?
