Dell 1710 My dell 1710 printer stopped printing. Two lights are always on, lowner low and error. I replaced the toner two months ago and I am a light user. If I press the continue button twice, the paper jam light comes on. Press continue twice again and it goes off. I have tried lots of things- the whole hold continue down while turning on the printer with printer door open thing several times now. Where's the reset button? Andrew

I have this same exact problem. Started yesterday and I cannot get it to go away. Our computer guru suggested it might be a bad toner cartridge. Haven't tried to exchange the new toner cartridge for another yet, will have to run out and get one first.

Will the printer print for you in this condition? I don't think ours will.

I have exactly this same problem. My printer worked fine until a few minutes ago. There was a brief power outage here and when the power returned, both the Toner Low and Error lights are on (not flashing). I changed my toner just a few weeks ago. Also, I have turned the printer on and off multiple times but I the lights are still on. I just called Dell and they said that there is no other solution since I have already restarted the printer many times. They claim that there is something corrupted on the mother board as a result of the power outage. I would really appreciate some help!

We finally took our 1710 to a printer repair shop. He got it working and thought it was a problem with a change in the cartridges used in this machine. He said that they had updated the cartridges but the oldest 1710s could not recognise the newer toners (with the same model #) as correct.
I have no idea if this is the real problem, but he did get it up and running for us. Dell has an updated version of the firmware on their website, don't know if it would help since the description of the firmware just says it updates the daylight savings dates.

Not a solution - - but - - don't listen to the Dell idiots.

I've been through two 1710 and 1710n printers and it continues to happen.

No solution have I found.

It's in the menu, under settings. reset to default and then power cycle it again...sounds like your memory is a bit corrupted(comes from power glitches)

My dell 1710 printer prints very light but the low toner light isnt on.

Check your print settings by properties. The setting might me on toner save mode so it will print 50% liter or which ever one someone press. It could of been my mistake but it must be toner save mode is on.
Good luck!!

Dell 1700 laser printer has Low toner and error lights flashing

Leave the printer on. Open the front and hold down the cancel button until all the lights are flashing in sequence. Close the front while still holding the cancel with the lights flashing and then release the cancel button. This should reset it.

There is no setting on the 1710 printer to clear the error of a non Dell branded toner being inserted. Some higher end Dell printers do have a setting for Non-Dell branded toner. Not all Dell printers have this setting. Resetting the drum count will have no effect on a non dell branded toner error.

Dell 1710

If that is the only light:
Remove the toner cartridge and firmly shake it from side-to-side and front-to-back several to use the
remaining toner, and then reinsert it and continue printing. Repeat this procedure multiple times until
the print remains faded. When the print remains faded, replace the toner cartridge

If not let me know.

Dell 1710 lights

You need to replace the drum and toner to correct the issue. That's the sign of the drum at its end of life.
