Panasonic plasma 1 solid black vertical line left of center

faint chance here, the larger or thicker the line the worse it is. Usually this is a defect inside the panel where it cannot be gotten at---rarely this will be a plug or connection outside of the panel.

The screen unit or display panel costs more than the set did new.

ANOTHER WAY TO GET THIS FAULT IS WORN OR DAMAGED RIBBON/PLASTIC GOING FROM THE SCREEN MATRIX TO THE INVERTER

42" Panasonic Plasma - Vertical red stripe 6" from left side

We originally had a red stripe roughly 3" wide running vertically on the ride edge area of our Panasonic 52" Viera plasma tv. It has now been joined by a solid black stripe of the same width running from the top to the bottom. Living in Germany and purchased at local PX long enough ago that the warranty is likely expired. Now what?

This sounds like one of the driver boards at the bottom or top of the screen has an intermittent fault. The set will have to be taken in to a service centre.

You could have one of three problems. One is really expensive to fix and you might want to trash the set. Thats if the panel is bad. Secondly, it could be a buffer board that went bad. Not as expensive as the panel. Finally, it could be the connection between the two. I would first take the back off and locate this board. Undo the ribbon cable solid black vertical line - 2_bing.gif and clean it off a bit and put it back. If its still there, you have a deeper problem.

The buffer boards are located across the bottow when you take the back off. About 3 inches wide. Sometimes they are on the top as well.

WHEN i TURN MY TV ON i GET VERTICAL LINES FROM SIDE TO SIDE BUT THE CHANNELS CHANGE AND VOLUME VORKS. WHAT COULD IT BE? PANASONIC SAYS THE LCD IS BAD, I DON'T BELIEVE THEM BECAUSE THEY TOLD ME THAT BEFORE AND I TOOK THE SET APART AND FOUND A CABLE GOING TO THE LCD PARTIALLI HANGING LOOSE.
CAN YOU MAKE SOME SUGGESTIONS?
