HP support just wants you to do a fresh OS, NO OPTION!!!

We didn't use the headphones prior to this problem, so chance that it's the jack is close to 0. What else could it be, loose connection inside?

There a loss connection in the speaker of your system. locate the loss connection and fix it. if hard for you fix then you should call the technician to fixed for you ..or either use external speaker so that you can hear sounds without using headset.

Fpe1906dv picture but no sound

Hi Ted,

This kind of symptoms indicated of fault either the internal speakers or the earphone jack itself. To isolate where the fault came from, the speaker's resistance inside the set needs to check using the multimeter/ohmmeter.
Watch the video below to give you an idea how to test the speakers.

If the speakers are in good condition, then the fault came from the earphone jack itself. It has a built-in switch that will open/closed once you plug in your headset to cut the sound coming to the internal speakers of the TV and hear the sound only to your headset. The problem is, if the contact stuck or dirty, the sound will not pass through the speakers. You have to spray it with electrical contact cleaner while inserting and pulling the headset plug to clean the contact.

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!

Headset & speaker both are playing at same time

Most probably headphone socket in the laptop is dirty. Spray some WD 40 or replace it.

Sound only works with headset. No longer comes

If the sound is working through another device then it seems that the internal speakers are bad. Because if the sound card was bad you wouldn't have any sound whatsoever, same goes for drivers. Probably just some bad speakers. If you have some other external speakers try plugging them into the headphone port and see if that helps.
