Does the external drive have its own power supply and, if so, did you make sure it's turned on?

Are you connecting it to a USB port?-Try another device in the same port to make sure THAT port works correctly.

Maybe the device requires it's own drivers-did the device come with an installation cd?

Are you using a version of windows(which one) or is it a Mac?

Try and see if you get the same results by hooking it up to a different computer.

Hope this helps!

The Wii doesn;t have any built-in capability to read hard drives. You willo need to check with the author of the homebrew program you are using for help.

Test your pen drive / USB sticks with H2testw

H2testw was developed to test USB sticks for various kinds of errors. It can also be used for any other storage media like memory cards, internal and external hard drives and even network volumes. The executable file H2testw.exe needs no installation and can be directly run. It was developed for Windows XP and Vista. It should also work under Windows 2000 but was only tested on XP and Vista. Windows 9x/ME is not supported. You can use the older command line program H2test under these operating systems. The function of H2testw is quite simple: It fills the chosen target directory with test data and then reads it back and verifies it. H2testw does not overwrite or erase any existing data. It doesn’t do any low-level tricks so administrator privileges are not required. If your hardware is working properly H2testw will not harm any existing data. You can download it from here

Dvd reading error

Try using a known-good (for instance, a movie you just watched on your TV). If it doesn't read that disc, make certain you have seated the disk in the drive properly (Laptop drives have a *CLICK!* when you have seated the disc properly). If that doesn't work- if the laptop is in warranty, get it fixed. If not, use an external drive to fulfill your media needs

Hello! I have ViewSonic 10. It cannot see an external HDD. It was correctly (I suppose) formatted but anyway the problem exists. It sees a USB card ok.

The problem is that the Viewpad 10 does not have enough power at the USB port to push a standard external HDD. You will need an externally powered drive or a two to one usb cable for this to work.

I have a brookstone brand record player with the ability to convert records to mp3/wma files via a sd slot and a usb slot. Every time I plug in an empty flash drive/ usb toward an external hard drive, or...

Hi,
External drives require to be formatted before use on somewhere else..
Pls "format" it on your Pc and than try again....
Sometimes proper formatting is possible on the equipment itself (like Digital Cameras )
I was not able to get into your units detailed specs to see if such feature is existed..
if its exist ,you must access thru "set up menu"
Secondly ,if the display recognizes the HD than your Record player will create its own Files/ folders..try to record something even it reads "no file" and than plug it into your PC to see what has been recorded..
Hope this helps!
Take care and please

Hello my 320 gb external hard drive used to be read by my pc but now my pc will not read it what do i need to do to get my pc to read it?

First of all ensure that the drive itself is not broken (it happens). Try reading it directly, on another computer, then by attaching it to an external powered USB hub which should supply more power than an ordinary USB port.
You can use a tool such as Paragon Partition Explorer to verify that the disk is indeed readable, albeit possibly damaged at a logical, not hardware, level.

As a last resort you may try extracting the hard drive from the Pininfarina enclosure and connect it to an EIDE or SATA interface, as appropriate, on a motherboard. This is best done by a computer knowledgeable person.

If the drive isn't "seen" in any way or makes whirry or clickety noises, it is likely damaged and requires expert maintenance or a data recovery service.

My HD is full is it possible to add memory? (Not RAM)

Hello

Ok, if you are asking if it is possible to ad memory to your existing drive, the anwser is not, you need to put in another HD, or get yourself an external HD.

I use an external HD, it works great for me.

Hope this can steer you in the right direction.

Kind regards
Andrea
