Your DVD is selected by using the TV remote button which cycles thru your TV's inputs such as INPUT SELECT or VIDEO or a button like these. Put a DVD in and press PLAY on the DVD player, then press the button on the TV remote to select the DVD player. If you reply with your TV brand and model, I can tell you exactly which button on the remote to press or you may discover it yourself.
the region code means the player does not support the disc your playing each country is given a region code for dvd australias is region 4 if you buy a dvd from another country it wont work you can get multi region codes for dvd players im not sure of pioneers code but try using a dvd from your country region and youl find it works just fine you can also try asking a tech on fixya for the multi region code for the model dvd player you have.
try resetting defaults Place DVD player in standby mode Push in the stop button on the hardware unit and keep pushed in Push in Standby button on the remote provide while doing the above Then put into standby mode again insert your DVD and see if it changes. All Happiness
This is a common problem for this model. It has a memory IC that must be replaced. This is a surface mounted IC that requires exceptional soldering skills to replace. I work at an authorized Pioneer service center and have repaired a good number of these for this exact problem. Unless you have great soldering skills it is not something that should be attempted to do yourself, it can cause permanent damage to the board if not done perfectly.
If you have the proper skills and soldering equipment I will be happy to give you the Pioneer part number so you can replace it yourself. If not, then you really should just take it to a service center and have a professional do this.
Put DVD into player - wait for regional code violation screen to appear. Once this happens press the M (Memory) button on your remote control. Then press 1 for Title 1 and press play on the remote. This will over-ride the regional code violation detection menu and you can watch the movie etc by entering the fwd on the remote control and change chapters etc by using the T (Title/Chapter) button on the remote control) I found this for other Toshiba SD dvd players, yours was not listed but might be worth a go.
