My LG Chocolate VX8550 wont recognize micro sd card

I have tried to format a Sandisk 2.0 GB micro sd card to my LG Chocolate VX8550. The phone does not appear to even read or recognize that there is a card. I have used the included adapter and my computer recognizes and utilizes the card--any suggestions beyond maybe the phone is broken?

I simply put the micro card in my phone FIRST. Then I took it out put it into the SD adapter, inserted it into my computer and transferred songs to the SD card from my list of music i have on my computer already. It worked quick simple and didn't require the CD or USB adapter from the phone company. Piece of cake.
    Good luck.

I try to put some music into my LG chocolate vx8550 but I can't. It seems like the CD I received with the USB doesn't work. Is there any software I can download instead of the CD. I also have an us card but I don't where I should put on my computer.( it's not a laptop.)

Exactly the same problem. Apparently the default code is "0000" or "9999". neither works, nor my account code. So how are we supposed to format the card so it is usable with this Chocolate?

I have used the SD micro card before transfer mp3 songs and podcasts from my Macbook to my LG Chocolate 3 phone. But now I have a problem. I took off old podcasts I was done listening to by deleting them from the SD card when it was hooked up to the USB adapter inserted into my Macbook port, and then I added new songs and podcasts to the card. But when I put the card into the phone, suddenly the phone said I had NO songs and NO podcasts. Every category shows up as empty -- under "songs", "genres", "artists", etc., it just says "Add Songs to Play Music", as if there's nothing there at all. ARGH. My computer says that there's tons of stuff on the card, but none of it shows up on the phone now. What do I do????

Here are the steps I took:

  1. Insert the micro sd card with the metal plates facing you (that took me a second). Don't worry about the little push you have to give.
  2. Go to the Settings & Tools option in the Menu.
  3. Select *. Memory
  4. Selct 3. Card Memory
  5. Select Options while the bar is on "1. Memory Usage". The only option available to me was 1. Format and select that.
  6. It will ask for the phone lock code-if you have never set it IT IS THE LAST 4 DIGITS OF YOUR TELEPHONE NUMBER.
  7. The phone will format the card and put the file folders on it.
  8. Use the adaptor USB reader or whatever you have to connect it to the computer. Copy songs to the my_music folder.

for mp3 as ringtones:

  1. You should select the part of the song you like, and can add effects with this:
  2. To set it as a ringtone, send it as an attachments to you [email protected] It must be small to go through, around 30 seconds.
  3. You will get a text message, and select options. Select Save As Ringtone.

When you put your adapter and sd into your computer, drag music files onto the my_music folder not the My Music folder. there is a difference. >.<

Is the card all the way in the adapter? I had that problem and once I realized it wasn't fully in the adapter it worked fine!

Put your Micro chip into the Chocolate

Take it out and connect it to your computer

You will see that the phone automatically saved folders such as "my_music"

Save your files into its folder

Put it back into the phone

(I'm 12 and I found that out)

I had the same problem and managed to fix it eventually. Turns out that when you try to turn on your phone MP3 player, it is looking in the wrong internal memory - so you get "list empty"! So you just need to move the files to the correct phone memory.
1) Plug in the phone to your PC using the USB cable.
2) Go to your PC and click on My Computer. You should see your phone listed as a drive denoted by a letter e.g. J, K , L etc. 3) Double click on the drive and you will see a folder called My Media follwed by a list of all your MP3 files.
4) Cut all the MP3 files to your clipboard.
5) Double click on the My Media folder, then on the Music folder.
6) Paste the MP3 files into the Music folder.
7) Disconnect the phone from the PC - and hopefullly job done!

I put my card into the phone and there are songs on the phone that don't play and I can't delete them!!
And when I put the card in my computer, the card does't show the those songs so I can't delete them using the computer either!! They are labled like JJ on my phone and it's wierd!!! HELP!

1) The microSD card is inserted into a slot on the right side of the phone, approximately at the level of the top of the display screen. It has a cover which lifts off in the same way as the place where you plug in the charger. The microSD chip goes in with the contacts facing toward you (as you face the phone) and will only go in one way. Press it in gently until it latches in place. To remove it, press on it again and it will unlatch and pop out just far enough for you to remove it.

2) When viewed from your computer, the Chocolate VX8550 microSD should show four directories (folders) called my_pix, my_flix, my_music, and my_sounds. Music, in mp3 format, must be saved in the my_music folder. If you save it anywhere else, the phone will not "see" it.

When you insert the microSD card and power on the phone, the phone will create an index of the mp3 files using the information embedded in the mp3 files (artist, album, genre, song).

Please note that the phone also has its own internal memory which is separate from the microSD card. It is possible to move files from the card to the phone and vice versa, but when you do so, the file is moved, not copied.

I cant find where i can put micro sd card

Posted on Feb 04, 2008

You have to put your MicroSD card in the phone and then take it out once you do that put it in your computer and it should be already for formating, you should see files on the card.

The LG800G works with microSD cards. Your 4GB card is actually a microSDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it's electronically incompatible and will not work with this phone. You need to use microSD cards, 2GB and smaller.
