On two recent occasions, my unit has chilled the wines down to about 36 deg.F. It has otherwise run fine for about two years, maintaining about 57 deg. F, consistently. Any idea what would cause such unregulated cooling?

Wine coolers are usually installed in cabinets or in a bar type situation where the airflow to them becomes more critical. the cooler has two sets of coils that can collect dust and dirt. once the coils clog with dirt, the fans cannot do there jobs by passing air over the coils. This is how the heat transfer takes place. One coil absorbs the heat from the inside of the cooler and the other rejects the heat into your home or outside of the unit. They should be cleaned once a month just like your refrigerator. This will make it run more effeciently. If this is not the problem, check to see if there is a supply register from your central heating and air system close to it. you may be able to get a diverter to push the air away from the cooler

What are best dates to drink red wine?

There is no magic date. Just make sure to chill it for a hour before drinking. I know it sounds weird but that is how it is done. For white wine and it's been in the refrig. you need to let it sit a hour before drinking. Most folks drink white wine too cold and red wine too warm.

How do you use a breville wc15xl wine chiller

HOW TO USE

First you place the Wine Cooler on a flat, dry surface, making sure that the timer is in the "off" position.

Remove the chill cells from the freezer and place around the inside of the cooler.

Thirdly, place the bottle inside the cooler and then pour cold tap water inside, until it just covers the top of the chill cells.

You can then plug the unit in, or if it has batteries you don't need to.

Finally, you set the control dial to the desired time. The following are recommendations for different types of beverages:

Sparkling Wine, Champagne and Dessert Wine.....9 minutes

Dry Wines, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling.....6 minutes

Chardonnay, Rose'....5 minutes

Light Red Wines, Pinot Noir....3.8 minutes

Full Bodied Reds, Shiraz, Grenache, Cab Sauvignon, Merlot....3 minutes

If you choose to chill a beverage without the timer, you just turn the control to the left and when you are done you turn it to the off position.

In addition to wine, the cooler can also chill beer and soft drinks. The only limitation is that the bottle diameter can be no more than 3.75 inches.

Should you wish to chill two or more consecutive bottles, the cells will remain cold enough for you to to do so.

While not in use, the cooler can also be used on the table with ice to keep your beverages cold (much like a regular ice bucket).

The power cord is removable, which makes for an easy clean-up.

The unit comes with a manufacturer's One-Year Limited Warranty.

Thermal coupling in wine chiller

No, I would not recommend putting water into the chill chamber since if there is a "gap" hole in this compartment, the water could get inside the unit's electronics etc.. which could at the very least short the unit and at worst electrocute you as you take the bottle out/touch the unit. That's the problem with this or any other Peltier/thermoelelectric type of chiller. They are only good for maintaining an ALREADY cold bottle's temperature, not for chilling it rapidly. There is no good or inexpensive way to get better chilling from these types of units. It's the law of themodynamics and heat transfer. Water is the best/safest/most inexpensive medium to use, not chilled air or even super cold air. Cold air or even super cold air just does not match the chilling potential of a liquid like water. The reason why 50F air is no problem, for you to be out in for hours, but 50F water you'll get hypothermia in 20-30 mins.

The best unit for chilling a warm wine bottle is the cooper cooler. Go to www.coopercooler.com. It uses ice and water and sprays the ice cold water over the bottle while spinning it to chill it quickly. This unit is great since it can also chill single serve drinks like beer/soda etc so is more versatile than the other chillers. Cheapest is about $59 which is much less than the waring at ~$100

Fridge not running well

Not sure of what type of fridge you are refering to.. However you can try a few obvious things. Try turning the thermostat to a lower number (warmer setting) to see if that makes a difference. If you have an ice build up starting to form on the fridge plate or only a partially cold plate then you could have either a loss of refrigerant or compressor fault. Is the compressor noisey in comparisson to its normal noise. Is there heat being produced all over the condenser (black finned section on back of cabinet or underneath cabinet)..If not possible gas leak. Hope this is of some help.
