Works fine and then just shuts down and won't come back on for a while. Last time it shut down I did the diagnostic test and it gave me a code of 2 4 what causes this and is it something I can repair myself? I have copier/digital printer/fax tech background.
Our Mitsubishi Big Screen Model No.VS-45607 had no problems until we moved to a new house and had it reinstalled with Comcast. Now it will shut down in the middle of a movie. Sometimes it will play for several days with no problems and then all of a sudden it will shut itself off and we cannot get it back on for an hour or so. Had a technician come out and he said it would have to be taken into his shop and the repair would be $465.00. Can you give us some help on this problem? Since it plays for many days without problems, we think it must be something that can be repaired at home. Our Mitsubishi Big Screen Model No.VS-45607 had no problems until we moved to a new house and had it reinstalled with Comcast. Since I cannot solder, is there another solution that I could use? Maybe I could just contact a t.v. repairman and see if he can make the repair.Since I cannot solder, is there another solution that I could use? Maybe I could just contact a t.v. repairman and see if he can make the repair.

Code 24 for mitsubishi means Veritcle deflection failure. Its an easy fix if you can solder , however you will need the service manual to diagnose which component in the verticle circuit is faulty. You can get the manual and unlimited support at the following link for 10.99, and if you want them to email it to you they will. After purchase just go back to the site and click on the contact us link and provide your email, they will also email instructions on how to obtain your support. there is a protection circut that will shut down the tv when it detects a failure in one of the components , when components heat up to much they go into thermal breakdown, the part that is heating up and failing is getting worse , so it will need to be test to determine which one
Sounds like you have a bad green picture tube that has failed. To check this out; remove front speaker grill, remove small panel, you will see three CRT's (pictue tubes) sticking down, remove the little board on the middle tube then restore power. If TV stays on more then likely the CRT is bad but not always the driver on board could also be bad, check voltages.
Push the menu and inputs buttons on the set in both together and hold for 8 seconds this should make the led flash a two digit code. Let me know what happens after doing this test.
