Hello, it is most likely a firewire connection.
FireWire, originally created by Apple and later standardized as IEEE-1394, actually preceded USB and had similar goals. The difference is that IEEE-1394 was originally intended for devices working with lots more data -- things like camcorders, DVD players and digital audio equipment. IEEE-1394 and USB share a number of characteristics and differ in some important ways. Here's a summary:

  • Like USB, IEEE-1394 is a serial bus that uses twisted-pair wiring to move data around.
  • However, while USB is limited to 12 megabits per second, IEEE-1394 currently handles up to 400 megabits per second.
  • USB can handle 127 devices per bus, while IEEE-1394 handles 63.
  • Both USB and IEEE-1394 support the concept of a isochronous device -- a device that needs a certain amount of bandwidth for streaming data. This mode is perfect for streaming audio and video data.
  • Both USB and IEEE-1394 allow you to plug and unplug devices at any time.
hope this helps,

regards

Amar Sondhi

How to check differential fluid level

on the differental, usually on the side next to the driveshaft you should see a plug with a square head inset, a ratchet with a short 3/8's extension will fit right in this square, unscrew the plug and remove it, you can stick you pinky finger in this hole to see if you can touch the fluid, if not you need to fill it with 85W gear oil,add gear oil until it just does start to run out

Lost signal on acer aspire 6530 lap top, dont know if my daughter has pressed a wrong button or switch ?

There is a little satellite icon next to the always blue (when turned on) skip to next (song) and stop (square) touch buttons. Put your finger on the satellite icon for a few seconds, then move off, a green message should come up on the bottom of your screen saying "Wireless LAN enabled", if it says "Wireless LAN disabled" then there is another problem with your connection.
When the wireless is enabled check that you're connected to the wireless network. Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center (in Vista) you should be able to see:
"Access Local and Internet"

If it's not connected to the internet try resetting your wireless router, if that doesn't work, check you have the correct network password. Right click the two little PC screens (icon) in the bottom left, in the new window right-click your network and go to properties. In the new window, "Security" tab check the settings and type in the correct network security key (password) again. Hopefully you will have a record fo the network security key or your problem will have already been fixed before you get to this point. :)

My Dyson upright suddenly won't stay in the upright position. It appears that a little rubber piece has fallen out of position.

- Stand behind the vacuum cleaner and look at the right-hand side wheel
- Remove the AI PIPE (it has two purple buttons that you push together to lift it up and out - it looks like a Tuba)
- Lay the handle down and look for a black button that will be exposed in front of the square hole
- Stick your index finger and middle finger into the vacant AI Pipe Hole (the square hole)
- Reach over with your thumb and press the black button in front of the square hole
- Whilst pushing the black button, lift your index finger and your middle finger and move the gray plastic piece up (lift the square
hole basically)
- Remove your fingers from the square hole
- Lift the handle and stand your machine back upright again
- Place the AI Pipe back into the square hole

Sony Ericsson Z525

The little square silver magnet is located next to one of the black torx screws in the cover. If you are looking at your phone with the cover open and the keys right side up, it is the black screw under the rubber plug on the right hand side. The edge of the magnet fits into a pocket that is molded next to the screw hole in the inside half of the cover. Since you have already opened your case you probably know to use a #T7 torx screwdriver for these screws. I hope this helps. --Mike.

Dirty glass

You can remove and clean the glass by first lifting off the scanner lid. Then pry the control panel bezel off and look for a square hole toward the front of the panel. Insert a screwdriver in this hole and press down then slide the panel toward the front of the printer. It should then lift off and you'll see a ribbon cable connected. Pull it out gently and set the panel aside. There are three T10 torx screws. Two at the rear and one at the right front. Carefully lift the glass assembly up while inserting a flat screwdriver in the left front edge to seperate. Lift the glass assembly off and clean as necessary.
