Your water line could be frozen in
the door. You can disconnect the line at the bottom before it goes into the
door at the bottom hinge. Push the dispenser button and see if it comes out
there. If it does, leave the
door open till it thaws. You can place a blanket over the opening to keep food from thawing. You can speed up the process using a hairdryer on medium heat at where the water comes out.
Hi John,
There's a micro switch in the door that activates a water valve. It may take some effort to get to the switch...but, may be miss-aligned or a bad microswitch - not activating the water valve.
Or could be a bad water valve: Part # WR57X10032 and cost $50.99 online at www3.sears.com or at a local appliance parts dealer.

Do you hear a little click when you press the water dispence button? If you do not the solinoid may have failed. It may need replacing.
Either that or the switch is not working.
Mr. Gordon This is a fairly common problem that I have seen on many occasions. Once the water leaves the filter it goes to (2) two electric solenoid valves that are located on the bottom rear of your refrigerator behind the removable panel. First you need to turn off the water valve at the wall, Then un-plug the refrigerator. Now slide it out far enough to work behind it. Now you will need to remove the screws that hold the panel. Set the panel aside. Now follow the water lines to the electric valve assembly. There will be one line going in and two coming out. There are (2) two plugs that are on the valves. One per valve. Disconnect them and remove the two screws that are holding the valve assembly to the chassis. Now you will need to disconnect the hoses. Have a towel near. There will bw pressure on the lines and quite a bit of water that is stored in the lines. There is a part number on the old assembly. You can usually pick the valves up at an appliance store or at most large hardware stores. Reassemble in the reverse and you should be back in business. Hope this helps. Good luck Mr. Gordon. If you feel that this solution has helped then please accept and re-post with updates. Thanks cj2176.
The water disperser seems to be faulty. As you say everything else is working fine. Then either the dispenser or the pipe leading to it may be the culprit. That is after the filter and before the actual tap/dispenser. Check these two items. Do not be in a hurry to replace them yet. We can do that anytime after we have ascertained the exact cause. The water is blocked here.
Remove lower grill and disconnect the water line going through the freezer door hinge. Usually it is a push lock fitting, which requires you to push the ring on the end of the fitting toward the center of the fitting while pulling (not hard) on the plastic tube. Now place a pan under the separated plastic hose and try the water dispenser. If water comes out, your problem is a frozen water line in the freezer door. A warmer freezer temp may help, or you can order and install a WR49X10173 water tube heater. (the heater may take 24 hours to thaw the line, but I have used it successfully several times. Cost about $50) If no water comes out the separated tube when you try to dispense water, reconnect the tube at the hinge by pushing the plastic line back into the fitting. Now, at the back of the refrig., disconnect the water line going from the water valve to the fresh foods compartment. Try to dispense water. No water at valve outlet = bad valve. Water dispensed from valve now = frozen water filter or water line at back bottom of fresh foods compartment. (make sure you disconnect the right tube. If in doubt, disconnect them both, just get them back correctly so your icemaker continues to work) Send me additional comments if needed. Don't rate before you try all the steps.
Hi John. I know it has been frustrating for you, but one thing you may not realize is that when a premium question is posted, the experts only see your question, not any other responses or your comments to them.
The door is not able to be taken apart to get to the internal water line. The heater mentioned is installed at the dispensing outlet, using in-line crimp on connectors and is low voltage. You can do it yourself. It may take a day or more for the water line to thaw. (warming the recess area with a hair blower might speed up the thaw process.) Order the part from most any appliance repair provider.

Hello Again,
I disconnected the tube under the front grill and water is flowing out nicely when dispensing. Thanks for the tip to troubleshoot this. So I guess the water line in the freezer door is frozen, right?
My current freezer setting is on "4", which I believe was always the setting we had.
I've recently been changing the refrigerator settings over the last few months between 5 to 7 when I notice that the orange juice is not as cold as I would like. I'm not sure if this would mess anything up on the freezer side or not, but I just figued I'd mention.
What freezer setting would you recommend I change the freezer to ? (1,2 or 3?) and how long would you think it would take to notice a difference in temperature to possible thaw out the water line inside the freezer door?
If lower the temperature doesn't work, I see you mentioned buying a $50 water line heater? How easy is this to install since the line is inside the freezer door? Any additional information on this as a possible option if the lower of the temperature doesn't work would be appreciated.
Have a great day !!!
John
Hello,
Thanks for the explanation. Before I go and do what you asked me to do I wanted to confirm a few things. You do know that when I disconnected the water line at the bottom of the refrigerator near the front grill that I did get water to dispense, right ? Why would replacing these valves, etc. fix anything if I am already getting water to the water line at the water line that is going directly into the freezer door. The other tech said that I may want to drop down the temperature of the freezer or install a WR49X10173 water tube heater. I've dropped the temperature down from 4 to 2 and still nothing so far, I've not been able get water to dispense. Pllease explain to me the inner workings of the water line and why your suggestion would fix things over what the other tech suggested. What exactly is the WR49X10173 water tube heater ? Where would this be installed also and is it difficult to do. Nobody got back to me on this question the last time either. Also, nobody answered my question on what temperature I should put the freezer. Any tips would be appreciated (Freezer setting 1, 2, 3, 4 ?). I guess I'm confused. Is the line frozen going into the freezer door or is it more of an electronic valve selonoid issue. Please try to explain to me in laymans terms as I am not very technical and provide additional detail on disconnecting things, exactly what I would have to remove and replace, etc. I appreciate your help !!!
Sincerely,
John Gordon Jr.
Hello,
Yes I do hear a click click toward the back of the refrigerator when I press the water dispenser. Also, as previously mentioned I am getting water to the water line just before it would go into the freezer door to the dispenser.
I've gotten like two or three different requests on what to do so I am confused where to go from here.
If I am getting water to the water line just before it enters the freezer door, then why would I need to replace a selonoid or any other part?
Please provide more detail on how you came up with this and exactly what I would need to do to fix this myself.
Could my line be frozen inside the freezer door ? I lowered my temperature from 4 to 2 and so far that hasn't done anything. I was also told that I could purchase a water line heater ? I'm not sure if this is the fix or not either and how difficult this would be to install.
Any additional help or details would be appreciated.
Sincerely,
John
Hello,
Thanks for your reply, but would I really need to go through all of this if I know I am getting water to the water line just before it enters the bottom of the freezer door. If I disconnect the water line just before it enters the freezer door and I hit the dispenser, I get water dispensed everytime. I'm guessing that I don't have a bad selonoid or valve.
Please review my history of posts and responses. My first response said to check to see if I get water dispensed after disconnecting the water line just before it enters the bottom of the freezer door. I did this and "yes" I am getting water dipensed everytime. They said to lower my freezer temperature. I did this on Saturday. I lowered it from 4 to 2 and so far that hasn't helped. They also mentioned that I should install a water line heater. Do you know anything about this and how difficult this would be to install ?
You tell me if I'm wrong or what you think would be my best course of action.
Thanks Alot,
John Gordon
Hello,
I disconnected the water line going into into the freezer door hinge by removing the tube from the push lock fitting and was able to dispense water no problem.
I've gotten a few other posts from other techs saying I may have a bad selonoid and/or valve located in the back panel, etc. etc. I'm guessing that this is false since water is dispensing no problem from the bottom tube that would go into the freezer door. Right ???
I don't want to waste my time on other techs. replies if you feel that I should continue with your course of action. I have reduced the freezer temperature from a "4" to a "2" on Saturday, but unfortunately this hasn't yet corrected the problem.
You mentioned that I may need to order and install a WR49X10173 water tube heater. Do you still think this would be the best course of action ?
Where can I order this part from and how easy is it to install ? Would I need to run electric to it ?
I appreciate your comments and feedback.
Sincerely,
John Gordon
Hello,
I appreciate your reply to my issue of not getting water dispensed from the water dispenser:
Here is your reply:
There is a micro switch in the door that activates a water valve. It may take some effort to get to the switch.. but may be mis-aligned or a bad microswitch - not activating the water valve. Or could be a bad water valve. Part #: WR57X10032 and cost $50.99 online at www3.sears.com.
Here's what I've done so far: I have verified that I have water succesfully dispensing from the water tube going into the bottom of the freezer door and I have already lowered the temperature from "4" to "2" for the freezer compartment a few days ago. A few techs said to try to see if the water line is frozen. Do you have any other suggesstions regarding this one. Should I just empty the freezer for 5-6 hours and leave the door open to see if the water line thaws out on its own ? Also someone else recommended me installing a part #: WR49X10173, a water tube heater. What do think here.
I still haven't determined if the line is frozen or if the micro-switch or water valve is bad ???? Help me do this please.
It does sound like it could be a bad micro switch or a bad water valve too. How can I tell which one is bad ? Does the part number WR57X10032 contain both a new micro switch and a new water valve ?
Also, how hard is it to open up/take apart the freezer door. It looks pretty closed up and I'd have no idea how to crack it open safely without messing it up. Please point me in the right direction if you don't mind.
Any extra tips and tricks as to what you would do to help diagnose this issue would be appreciated.
I'd like to fix this myself if possible, but don't want to waste my time if I'm going to have to take the whole door apart and it turns into a major project.
Thanks Again,
John Gordon Jr.

I wasn't happy with the last reply I got, please give me more detail if at all possible. The last reply doesn't tell me anything basically and nobody really seems to be answering any of the questions I posted. Please ready my last post and reply in as much detail as possible. I really appreciate it !!!
