I lost the admin password to my D-Link DIR 412 router. Is it possible to do a reset?

Yes apparently the DIR 412 comes with a reset button on the back which will restore it back to factory settings (the settings it came with originally) There's details on the reset procedure in the routers manual, if you haven't got one here's a link to an online manual for it: ftp://files.dlink.com.au/products/DIR-412/Manuals/DIR-412_A1_Manual_v1.10(I).pdf You'll want the troubleshooting section near the back of the manual.

Where do I find the password for my D-link? Is it the encryption code or is it something else?I have a DIR-635

Hello jean635,
As for the password for your D-Link router, there's 2 passwords you could be referring to.
1) The password to login to the router itself
2) The password for your wireless network

If the password you're looking for is the one to login to your router (192.168.0.1) and the password has NOT been changed, you should be able to login with the username "Admin" and a blank password. If that does not work then you would need to factory reset your router using the "Reset" button on the back of the unit.

If the password you are looking for is the one for your wireless network, then you would need to login to your router, navigate to the wireless network settings and you should see the password there. If it's just a bunch of circles, you would need to change the password to a new one and make the necessary changes to the settings on your computers/devices that connect.
If this helped, please rate, thank you!

I don't know how to set a password on my d-link router because my internet is insecure. How do i do this? I have the default username and password, but i don't know what to do from there.

1.Open your Internet browser and type in the default IP address for your DIR-625 wireless router: 192.168.0.1. A window will appear asking for your DIR-625 wireless router network name and password. If you do not know your existing network name, enter the default network name, "Admin." Leave the password blank. If you have already set up a network name and password, enter it now. Select "Log In."

2.Select "Wireless Settings" from the left-hand navigation bar. Put a check mark in the box marked "Enable Wireless."

3.Type your new wireless network name for your DIR-625 in the box labeled "Wireless Network Name."

4.Type your new password for your DIR-635 in the box labeled "Pre-Shared Key."

5.Select "Save Settings" from the top of the screen to save your new password.

How ca i rename my d-link wireless router and put password on it? thx

you need to look underneath the router for something like this E.G http://192.168.01 it will be there somewhere on the router or documents you had with the router. once you have found this you need to open internet explorer and type it in the address bar as you find it, then this will acess your router so you can change the password and name and any other settings you want to change.it might ask your for a user name and password to log into the router but this should be on your router or on documents that came with the router. hope this helps

I have router dir-635 and I can not contact my router...whats wrong

IT MIGHT BE THAT THE IP ADDRESS OF YOUR WIRELESS LAN CARD AND THAT OF THE WIRELESS ROUTER ARE NOT ON THE SAME SUBNET ANYMORE. TRY RESSETTING THE ROUTER BY PRESSING THE RESET BUTTON FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS. THEN RECONFIGUER THE ROUTER USING THE IPADDRESS 192.168.0.1 AND USERNAME : admin AND PASSWORD : admin

log on to your router > click on status> in left pane click on logs. Older logs are deleted when memory full.

If running the SYSlog utility you can save to a folder on your computer. You name the folder.

D-Link DIR-635 - wireless not working

Hello GEMD,

There may be different reasons why your wireless network is not working properly, let me ask you few questions in order to narrow down the problem.
  1. Is your D-Link DIR-635 brand new therefore we are talking about a new installation?
  2. Are you able to connect via wireless your two laptops in other locations?
  3. Could it be that the wireless has not been enabled yet in your router settings? To check this you will have to log on to your router by typing 192.168.0.1 in the address bar of Internet Explorer then select Admin as Username and leave the password field blank. Go to the Wireless Settings and Setup tab in order to enable  the "radio" signal.
  4. Could it be that an SSID has not been assigned yet to your wireless network?
You can download the complete product manual from the following page.

D-link DIR-635 router

Hi, I am assuming that you can connect to your router's web based interface (192.168.0.1). On a PC LAN wired to the router, open a browser; Type "192.168.0.1"; Log-in username/admin and password/(blank); Go to Tools > Misc and the option to select the WAN speed (bottom); Lock the speed down on the WAN port of your router to 10Mbps (Some versions do not have this feature). Hope this works for you. If not pls post back with your modem brand/model. You may also want to log the IP settings (IP Add, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, DNS Servers) of the PC that is directly connected to the modem when you can access the Internet when not using the router. Good luck and kind regards.
