You need to connect either the "Audio Out" or "Monitor Out" on the back of the TV to the AV receivers "Audio Input" Most newer TV's have a digital output, usually optical, as well as an analog (rca) output. Some TV's may need to be activated thru the settings menu (audio) which will turn off the TV speakers and activate the audio output. The other way to connect is to run optical or coaxial audio from a Cable/FIOS/DSS receiver's output to the AV receiver's input. If you need further help, post a comment and I will help you further. Hope this helps

Denon AVR-2802 Optical Issue

If you look at page 16 of the user manual it tells you how to assign the devices to the optical connections. Once this is done it should work.
If you don't have the manual just type "denon avr 2802 manual" into Google and it will show a free PDF file of it. On my search it came up first!

No sound

check speaker conections. disconnect all the speaker wires and use one speaker that you know that works and connect it to each channel one at a time. most surround sound stereos will not go into surround mode unless all the speakers are connected so make sure stereo is in 2 channel mode to start testing. check all fuses sometimes amp fuse is seperate from power circuit and denon uses relays in 99% of thier units.

Technical Problem on my Denon AVR 2802

How good are you with electronic repairs...? Do it if only you are confident...

The way you describe you problem it seems more like poor solder connections somewhere on the board. Usually these are at the voltage regulators where there can be some heat. Also, look for any connections that appear to be grasiny or have rings and resolder them too.

Alternatively, suggest that you take it to the Denon service center closest to you.

Best of Luck..

No sound from my brand new speakers

I am assuming you have tried new speakers on used unit on both A & B choices. Have you tried your new speakers with old 2802? If they work OK with old unit, you have problem with amplifier in used unit. Take the used 2802 to a reputable shop and have it thoroughly tested. Perhaps it is just a loose connection.
