Broken AC window unit Kenmore

Hi I am contacting you today to help me with my AC window unit.It is a Kenmore, the fan stopped working I only hear a quiet humming. I took the cover off and plugged it it I gave the fan a small boost in the direction of the motor rotation and it took off and ran for several minutes it did not quit on it's own. I unplugged the unit again allowed the fan to come to a complete stop then plugged it in,and again a quiet humming untill I gave it a spin. With nothing plugged it if I spin the fan it goes and goes leading me to believe the bearings are good. Any hepl you could give me would be GREATLY APPRECIATED Thanks for your time,Dave

The motor is clearly bad. The problem is with the windings. Unfortunately most small A/C/s these days are cheaper to replace than repair.

It is likely that the fan will have to be replaced.

Need new fan motor comp works where can i get motor the ac is a window unit kenmore plasm aire

Try Sears Beta Parts

Remove the front cover of the window unit to access the model number location.

Yesterday I went to my sisters house. Her ac's fan was not on. I took some side cutters and make a hole big enough to reach inside and turn the condenser fan on the back side of the unit. I added some HVAC oil to the motor. Don't know how long it is gonna work but it is working now.ca02c58.jpg

My new Kenmore window unit 76081 makes loud rattle

If it does not make the noise when the fan is ruunin you may ahve abroken sping in the compressor. Make sure you Window unit is level. If not the compressor will knock on the inside. Rusty

Hello, I have a Kenmore 580.75124500 ac/heater

It is probably the compressor. You will need to check if the compressor is being called to come on. Do you hear the compressor running? If you do, I would remove the unit from the wall or window, and wash it down real good with a hose being careful not to get the electronics wet. If not and the unit sound different than it did before, it's probably time to buy a new one.

RV Rooftop AC Unit

Sounds to me like your fan is hitting something
Remove the cover and turn the fan by hand ( with the power off ! ) See what it is hitting

There's a buzzing sound coming from my central air conditioner unit outside. The fan is quiet but I hear a buzzing sound. Should that be happening? Sounds like there's something loose.

Things that are not broken: The big relay that powers the compressor often hums or buzzes when the unit is running. Several brands of heat pumps keep their reversing valve "on" any time the thermostat is set for "cool". They buzz, too.

If something really is loose, the only way to fix it is to look at the machine and take off panels until you find what is buzzing.

2001 525 AC fan

The indoor and outdoor unit have separate breakers,so one can run with the other. It would not cool. Check the separate breakers to be sure their on.Take the cover off the t-stat, you will see a red and a green wire.remove these and touch them together. If the fan runs you probably have a bad thermostat. If it does not .The problem is inside the indoor unit. There is a disconnect or breaker on the cover. remove it, pull the cover off and put the dis connect back in.If the fan hum ms or turns slowly you have a bad capacitor or fan motor. Try the cap. first,if still not running the motor is most likely the problem.Should the motor not try to run or hum,it could be a blown fuse, you will see it in a small circuit board if you have one.It could be the circuit board itself,or a bad fan relay.A meter can help you trace this if you have one.Be careful as there is 220 volts powering this unit.Good luck

a real hummer. humm can be the sound of a short.but it sounds since u did only turn the fan on it hummed ...fanns are blower motors in acs the motor I bet ate it and needs a new one no way of fixing the motor but most are easy and cheap to replace...go or call an ac applance man ...see if he got a good used one for you or go the manufacture take model make serial no. sometimes u can spin the fan while on and it takes off again...this is dangerous so use a plastic long something but will dy again after u turn it off. good luck. Hums and freezes up????

The fan motor must have been stopping. If the fan stops, for sure the fins will freeze because there is no air flowing. common Fan motor problems defective bearing or bushing and starting condenser. If the bearing is defective, it will heat up and seize. Have the fan motor checked. The fact that the fins are freezing, means that there is enough freon and the compressor is working.
