I have a problem with my dryer, the drum won't spin but there is heat coming from the element. I have tried taking the load of washing out but it still won't spin. I can't find a reset switch either. The dryer is only 5 months old but the online store where I bought it don't want to acknowledge responsibility. Any help will be appreciated thanks.
I have an old )15 years or more) Kenmore heavy duty gas dryer, front loading. Model No. 87581800. I had it repaired a year ago and believe belts and things were replaced.
Now when I press on the Start button the drum will not turn. There is only a buzzing sound.

This may be a simple broken belt problem. The dryer utilizes a belt that wraps around the drum and is driven by a motor. If the belt breaks, the dryer heating circuits will still finction normally, but the drum will not rotate. It would be helpful if you could provide me with a model number (located somewhere around the door opening, or along the back of the operator console). If it IS a belt problem, this is a fairly inexpensive fix. If the motor, however, has gone bad, it may be considerably more. Please post back with your comments. I hope this helps you.

The element access is from a panel on the bottom of the front panel or you will have to take the front completely off which is a lot easier than taking the back off. The front comes off with just a few screws and the top may actually hinge back a little. The element should be at the right hand bottom of the dryer. You may visibly be able to see a break in the element coil .
Heating problem is most likely caused by one strand of your heating element is burned out. Heating element will have to be replaced if that's the case. Noise you are hearing is most likely coming from worn front and / or back bearing. Dryer has to be completely disassembled for either repair.
if you can take your dryer apart, you'll have to take the drum out and lubricate the bearing that is located in the center under the drum while there check wellness of your heat element if located there. Anyway use high temp grease on this bearing looks more like a ball
